Job description

Job Summary -

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Equipment Operator to operate heavy machinery on construction and sitework projects. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating equipment such as excavators, backhoes, dozers, skid steers, and loaders to support excavation, grading, paving, utility installation, and material handling. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with various types of construction equipment and a strong commitment to safety and quality work.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently based on site and project requirements
  • Perform grading, trenching, excavation, backfilling, and material movement tasks
  • Load and unload materials using loaders, skid steers, or forklifts as needed
  • Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project layouts
  • Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisor
  • Work closely with laborers, foremen, and other operators to complete tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
  • Follow company and OSHA safety standards, including use of PPE
  • Perform manual labor duties when equipment is not in use
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications -

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or sitework
  • Proficient in the use of excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, skid steers, and loaders
  • Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and follow project specifications
  • Strong knowledge of equipment safety procedures and standard operating practices
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
  • Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
