ABOUT KMVT 15: KMVT 15 Silicon Valley Community Media is your local Community Media Center. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, tax ID #77-0206286. KMVT 15 has been training, educating, and providing technology and equipment to the residents of Mountain View since 1982. Today, KMVT 15 also provides those same services to Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Cupertino, and Sunnyvale. In short, if you are interested in protecting local, independent media from rampant corporate media capture, this is the community for you. 


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Office Location: KMVT 15 Studio, 2500 Old Middlefield Way Ste F, Mountain View, CA 94043

Compensation: $30/hour

Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

Hours: 15–30 per month

Role Overview: Seeking a Production Assistant eager to operate equipment for live productions & instruct students in media production skills. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, technically skilled, and comfortable with flexible hours. Work will be completed across various locations including the KMVT Studio, school campuses, live event venues, and city hall control rooms. 

Responsibilities:

  • Government Meeting Operation
  • Operate PTZ cameras, audio, lighting, and video switcher
  • Ensure high-quality video and audio capture
  • Troubleshoot equipment as needed
  • Report technical issues to staff
  • Media Production Instruction
  • Gather & transport necessary equipment from KMVT studio to school campus 
  • Instruct classes/workshops according to provided training / pacing guide
  • Responsibly manage a class of 5-10 children ensuring safety at all times
  • Live Production Crew
  • Unload & tear down live production equipment
  • Operate cameras, lighting, and video switchers as needed
  • Communicate effectively with broadcast engineer & director during event

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 18+ years old; valid driver’s license and a reliable car to transport equipment
  • Able to pass Live Scan background check
  • Experience with video production equipment
  • Experience with counseling and/or youth education
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
  • Reliable, flexible, and a good communicator
