Job Title: Quality InspectorJob Description

The Quality Inspector sets up and programs coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and performs precise dimensional inspections on in-process and finished parts for the semiconductor industry. This role uses advanced metrology tools and Zeiss Calypso software to verify that components meet strict blueprint and drawing specifications, and supports the fabrication process by identifying, communicating, and helping resolve quality issues.

Responsibilities
  • Set up CMM programs and run parts on the CMM table to verify that all features meet specified tolerances.
  • Perform in-process dimensional inspections on precision parts to ensure components remain within specification throughout the fabrication process.
  • Conduct final dimensional inspections on finished goods to confirm compliance with product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and product specifications to determine required measurements and inspection criteria.
  • Use precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology instruments, to verify part dimensions.
  • Program and operate CMM equipment using Zeiss Calypso software to create, modify, and run inspection routines.
  • Document inspection results accurately and clearly, and communicate nonconformances or deviations to the appropriate personnel.
  • Aid in the fabrication process by providing feedback on quality issues and assisting with adjustments to processes or setups to correct dimensional problems.
  • Support continuous improvement of inspection methods and processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Maintain inspection equipment in good working condition and follow established procedures for calibration and proper use.
Essential Skills
  • Previous experience taking dimensional measurements in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in quality assurance (QA) or quality control (QC) with responsibility for dimensional inspection.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and running CMM equipment for precision part inspection.
  • CMM programming experience, with strong proficiency in Zeiss Calypso software heavily preferred.
  • Experience operating Zeiss CMMs, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize inspection programs.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and product specifications for precision components.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing measurements and recording results.
  • Ability to identify and communicate quality issues and collaborate with fabrication personnel to resolve them.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience inspecting precision parts for the semiconductor industry or other high-precision manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with in-process and finished goods inspection workflows in a machine shop setting.
  • Comfort working with aluminum, copper, and other metals used in advanced circuitry frameworks.
  • Exposure to heat-resistant components and electrical insulator assemblies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective communication skills to work closely with machinists, engineers, and other team members.
