Posting Details
Mark Thomas is hiring a Resident Engineer! The Construction Management (CM) Resident Engineer (RE) uses their engineering judgment and experience to evaluate project construction in compliance with the plans, specifications, standard plans, and standard specifications. The RE is an authorized representative of the CM Manager and/or the client representative and will exercise authority to the level assigned on a project by project basis. The Resident Engineer has full authority in matters of safety related to imminent hazard or danger.
RESPONSIBILTIES
  • Manages day-to-day construction management/construction inspection operations on-site, including oversight of construction contractor operations and oversight of subcontractors
  • Manages and mentors staff
  • Verifies that quality standards and project deadlines are met
  • Maintains client satisfaction
  • Performs construction contract administration tasks, including pay requisitions, change orders, and correspondence from pre-construction through closeout
  • Chairs site meetings with the contractor, and other stakeholders
  • Engages in direct coordination with the client's Project Representatives
  • Provides regular status reports to Construction Services Department Manager
  • Participates in training activities and actively seeks opportunities to contribute to the achievement of Mark Thomas strategic goals

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • A minimum of 8-10+ years of CM experience preferably working on Caltrans, LACTMA, or other agency highway and bridge projects
  • Holds a valid PE license in the State of California
  • Caltrans experience preferred
  • Holds a valid CA driver's license
  • Demonstrated understanding of both internal and external project financials and metrics
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work & collaborate in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel
