Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder Construction Services is seeking experienced Construction Inspectors (Civil/Roadway, Structure, Electrical) for our Transportation clients, to perform quality assurance inspection services on transportation-related improvement projects throughout Southern California (Los Angeles County, Orange County, Inland Empire). The Construction Inspector will be assigned a field vehicle and gas card, reporting to construction job sites, with the ability to work extended shifts and nights as needed.
Job Duties
  • Perform quality assurance inspection and documentation of construction activities under the direction of a Resident Engineer.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and codes to verify that construction work is performed in accordance with them.
  • Prepare detailed Daily Inspection Reports, with photos, accurately reflecting the construction progress.
  • Measure, calculate, track, and record pay quantities for monthly estimates.
  • Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with applicable safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a set of field as-built drawings.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer with field input on change orders, RFIs, submittals, response letters to the contractor, and as-built drawings.

Qualifications/Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in civil/roadway or Structure, or Electrical construction inspection of transportation, facilities or major public works projects.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering and/or EIT.
  • Caltrans inspection experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans standard plans, specifications, procedures, and Construction Manual.
  • Ability to assist the Resident Engineer in all aspects of required field and office construction engineering work including, but not limited to:
    • Experience in the inspection of traffic control system compliance.
    • Experience in Water Pollution Control Program (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) enforcement.
    • Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection, surveying, field testing of construction materials, and construction office engineering.
    • Proficient computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat; experience with CAD and Primavera P6 is a plus.
    • Knowledge and experience with principles of effective communication and supervision.
    • Ability to work night shifts for an extended duration.
