As a Sales Development Representative, you will sell the value of large industrial machines that cut, punch, and bend sheet metal into finished parts — including panel benders, punching machines, fiber lasers, press brakes, and combi machines — by qualifying manufacturing prospects for the outside sales team. You will be selling primarily to senior leadership (VP/Director) and executive or owner-level buyers at Canadian sheet-metal manufacturing companies. This role is 100% new business development — a phone- and email-based prospecting role with no account management or closing responsibility. Leads come from a mix of self-generated prospecting (approximately half), company-supplied lists, and inbound/warm leads. Customers are manufacturers across industries including HVAC, kitchen and catering equipment, job shops, elevators, office furniture, data centres, generators, and electrical equipment, located anywhere in Canada. This is a newly created position as part of a national sales team build-out, reporting directly to the Business Development Manager. The base salary is $68,840 CAD, plus commissions.

The North American headquarters is based in Hamilton, Ohio, USA, with a Canadian office in Guelph, Ontario. • Head Office (post-training): Guelph, Ontario, Canada
• Initial training: full-time, on-site at the company's North American training campus in Hamilton, Ohio, USA, for a minimum of 3 months (up to approximately 6 months); all relocation, housing, vehicle, and living expenses are covered by the company
• Work arrangement following training: Hybrid — a few days per week in the Guelph, Ontario office

• Selling is conducted primarily by phone, email, and video — this is an inside sales role with minimal on-site travel required
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week; business casual dress for any client-facing contact
• Overnight travel: Approximately 5–10% (2–3 times per year)

• 1–3 years of B2B, phone-based, outbound sales experience — outbound call centre, inside sales, or similar phone-first backgrounds are relevant; recent graduates with approximately 1 year of relevant sales experience are encouraged to apply
• Industry experience is not required — our client will train the right candidate on the product and the manufacturing processes involved
• Comfort reaching and holding conversations with senior leadership and owner-level buyers is essential; candidates limited to junior-level contacts will struggle
• University or college degree required; engineering or business-related education is viewed favourably
• Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle required
• Must be willing and able to relocate temporarily to Hamilton, Ohio, USA for the training period, and must be eligible for a U.S. training visa
• Passive, inbound-only, or order-taking sales backgrounds are not a fit for this role

On a typical day, you will make outbound calls and send emails to Canadian sheet-metal manufacturers, qualify prospects on their manufacturing processes and technical requirements, set qualified appointments for the outside sales team, maintain detailed activity records in Salesforce, and collaborate with technical experts and colleagues who can join calls to support more complex conversations.

• Approximately 50% self-prospected pipeline — building your own target lists
• Approximately 25% lists supplied by the company
• Approximately 25% warm/inbound leads, including website enquiries and trade show leads
• Significant outbound cold calling and prospecting is a core, ongoing expectation of this role

• Approximately 5–10% overnight travel (2–3 times per year)
• Travel is for trade shows, company training, and select client visits — not required for regular day-to-day selling

• Structured onboarding: full-time, hands-on training on-site in Hamilton, Ohio, working alongside the existing sales development team, for a minimum of 3 months (up to approximately 6 months)
