The City of Wylie is seeking Equipment Operators for the Parks Division.

The selected applicant will perform manual labor and related work as required. Performs related work tasks as required based on the assigned division. SUPERVISION Supervision is provided by the division supervisor or designee.

Essential Job Functions Keeps work areas clean. Cleans, maintains, and services tools and equipment. Loads and unloads materials and equipment.

Reads, understands, and follows written and oral job instructions, plans, maps, and drawings. Submits written reports legibly and completely. Creates reports using the Public Works software system.

Hears clearly when working around equipment and in traffic. Uses proper safety precautions when performing all tasks. Exercises good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly.

Operates vehicles according to rules of safety and laws of the State of Texas. Uses proper safety precautions at all times and wears proper safety equipment at all times. Follows safety regulations, City and department policies and procedures.

Presents a clean and well-groomed appearance. Operates a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Able and willing to work outside in all kinds of weather.

Communicates effectively with co-workers. Subject to after-hours call-out for emergency situations, as defined by supervisor. Sets up barricades when and where needed for the safety of employees and the public.

Completes work orders, including turning in completed forms on a daily basis. Operates a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.

Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others. Other duties as may be assigned. When assigned to Parks: Assist in performing maintenance activities for the Parks Division.

Minimum Job Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's License. Must have Texas Driver's License within 60 days of hire.

Preferred experience varies based on division assignment. Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses as outlined by Emergency Management. Specific licenses and certifications vary based on division assigned; the list below is not to be considered all-inclusive.

When assigned to Parks: Possession of a Texas Certified Chemical Applicator's License preferred (issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture in lawn/ornamental and weed control). Physical Requirements/Work Environment PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED Very high: Push, pull or drag up to 150 lbs., lift up to 100 lbs. with help, lift and carry up to 50 lbs

frequently and 20-50 lbs. constantly.
