About the Facility โ€“ Battle Creek VAMC Community Living Center At VA Battle Creek Medical Center, our health care teams are deeply experienced and guided by the needs of Veterans, their families and caregivers. Our main campus provides primary care and specialty health services, including treatment for hearing loss (audiology), treatment for vision loss, dental care, nutrition counseling, hospice and palliative care, mental health services, laboratory services, treatment for PTSD, and more. This VAMC facility consists of 276 total operating beds, including 55 inpatient mental health beds, 11 inpatient medical beds, 109 Community Living Center beds, and 101 Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program beds. Responsibilities

The Community Living Center (CLC) RN will serve as a staff nurse and will evaluate clinical practice and initiate change based on current concepts and findings from research and/or evidence based studies. Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures appropriate to CLC's practice setting;
  • Providing leadership in interpreting, supporting and implementing Medical Center and Nursing Department philosophy, policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and quality improvement processes; Accepting responsibility and maintaining accountability for actions and continued professional and personal growth;
  • Serving as a consultant in clinical practice;
  • Communicating and working effectively with others;
  • Initiating and leading groups of personnel and interdisciplinary groups;
  • Establishing relationships with professional and/or health related groups with the community.

We seek RNs who possess:

  • Good organizational skills which enable completion of work;
  • An ability to assume leadership duties;
  • Ability to establish effective communication with residents, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience
