Job description

Overview of Opportunity

Two Six Technologies is searching for a Technical Operations Engineer  to lead the development and delivery of complex cyber training programs across virtual and in-person environments. While you will remain hands-on with the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and virtualization stacks used to maintain the hybrid cyber range, your primary focus is translating technical network scenarios into actionable curriculum. This role draws upon a background in cyber operations, requiring you to validate hardware/software solutions and document iterative improvements to training SOPs. Ultimately, you will serve as a subject matter expert who bridges the gap between new technology and effective deployment into the field.

This work will be onsite at our Laurel, MD office with 25% travel. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct virtual and/or in-person training sessions
  • Operate and maintain a hybrid cyber range
  • Understand and emulate network scenarios with Infrastructure as Code
  • Test and validate software and hardware solutions before deployment
  • Document SOPs and find ways to iteratively improve processes

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with teaching technical curriculum in formal classroom settings
  • 1+ years of experience with using Python and basic Linux/Bash functions
  • Familiarity with running Docker containers (Docker Compose)
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as Proxmox and Openstack to create and manage virtual machines
  • 5+ years of experience in cyber operations, IT, or developer roles
  • Active Top Secret level clearance with eligibility for SCI

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with DevOps frameworks like Packer, Terraform, and Ansible
  • Experience with datacenter operations like planning and physically connecting network devices
  • Experience configuring routers and switches (like Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba)
  • Experience with operating network sensor technologies such as Security Onion
  • Experience with threat emulation using frameworks such as Caldera
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Active Top Secret level clearance with eligibility for SCI
