Job Summary:

VFS Fire & Security Services is looking for a full-time Sprinkler Fitter to join our Orange, CA office. This individual will be responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing fire sprinkler systems. The fire sprinkler fitter's duties include interpreting work specifications and fire codes, ensuring the installation meets NFPA13 specifications, coaching apprentices, following workplace procedures, and adhering to company safety policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installation, modifications, and repairs of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Follow safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Follow the company and industry standardized practices and/or methods.
  • Fill out work tickets and submit them when work is completed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
  • Solve practical problems and create action plans.
  • Work under limited supervision.
  • Train and coach fire sprinkler apprentice(s).
  • Attend training, safety, and education meetings to enhance knowledge of safety concerns and resolve related issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of fire sprinkler installation experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA13, 25, and California Fire Code.
  • Ability & willingness to travel out-of-state for business needs.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Valid Cal Fire fitter certification/trainee preferred.
  • Basic understanding of measurements.
  • Ability to read and understand inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
  • Complete knowledge of operating various electrical and mechanical tools such as saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
  • Ability to adhere to safety practices.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge of how to safely operate a pipe threading machine.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and fellow team members.
  • Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
