JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role

Cup of Joe Cafes is looking for a friendly, guest-focused Barista to join our team at our Starbucks licensed store in the cafeteria at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL. One of Alabama's largest hospital campuses, this location keeps doctors, nurses, staff, and visitors fueled around the clock. If you love connecting with people, thrive in a fast-moving environment, and take pride in crafting an exceptional Starbucks experience on every order, we want to hear from you.

As a Barista, you are the face of the store and the heart of the guest experience. You will craft Starbucks beverages and food items to standard, keep your workspace running smoothly, and bring the warmth and energy that makes guests want to come back.

What You'll Do

•     Craft Starbucks beverages and food items to recipe and brand standard on every order, every time

•     Deliver a warm, welcoming experience that makes guests feel genuinely taken care of

•     Keep your station clean, stocked, and ready to handle the rush

•     Follow all food safety and handling procedures

•     Support your shift lead and teammates — step in where needed, no questions asked

•     Show up consistently and be a reliable, positive presence on the team

•     Help train and welcome new team members as you grow in your role

•     Stay curious about the menu, the craft, and the brand — the more you know, the better every interaction gets

Who You Are

•     You're a people person — hospitality comes naturally to you, not from a script

•     You thrive in a fast-paced environment and stay steady when the rush hits

•     You take pride in getting the details right, whether it's a drink recipe or a clean counter

•     You're dependable — your team and guests can count on you to show up and give your best

•     You communicate well and work easily with teammates

•     You don't mind the physical side of the role — standing, moving, and staying active for your whole shift

•     Coffee or café experience is a plus but not required — we'll train you on everything you need to know

•     You're looking to grow — we promote from within, and barista is where most of our leads started

•     You're comfortable following Starbucks appearance standards (solid black top, black or khaki bottoms, slip-resistant shoes, apron provided) — full dress code shared at interview

What We Offer

$14 – $15/hr base pay + tips — total take-home depends on your location and tip volume

1 free drink per shift in your reusable cup + 50% off additional drinks

50% off food items every shift

Quarterly performance bonuses for attendance & standards

30% off retail merchandise including packaged coffee

  $500 Coffee Master certification bonus

Flexible scheduling — we work around your life

  College Tuition Assistance

Real growth path — we promote from within

Keep Alabama's largest hospital campus fueled — meaningful work on every single shift

A family-run company where you're known by name, not a number

Starbucks recognition programs and brand training

  401(k) retirement plan available

Requirements

•     Must be 18 or older

•     Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs

•     Available for a mix of morning, midday, and closing shifts including weekends

•     Must be authorized to work in the United States

•     Food handler certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
