Job description

Approximately $60,000–$80,000 Base Salary + Annual Bonus
Strong Benefits | Leadership Potential

Are you an experienced Systems Administrator who understands more than one narrow part of the IT environment?

Perhaps you’ve progressed from technical support into servers, infrastructure, virtualization, hardware, and systems administration. You know how to solve problems and keep a business running, but you’re ready for greater ownership and a clearer long-term path.

Our client is an established global manufacturing organization developing a dedicated Information Systems function for one of its major business divisions.

They need a well-rounded Systems Administrator who can help transition infrastructure, hardware, networking, and end-user support responsibilities into the new team.

This is a newly created, hands-on role with meaningful growth potential. You’ll work closely with experienced technology leaders, learn an established environment, and support approximately 800 users.

As the department grows, the person hired may have the opportunity to train future team members and earn consideration for a supervisory role.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and support Microsoft Windows environments and end-user software.
  • Administer Active Directory, user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Support VMware and server virtualization.
  • Troubleshoot servers, workstations, hardware, and software.
  • Support end users throughout the organization.
  • Perform and test system backups and restores.
  • Help protect system availability, security, and data integrity.
  • Support connectivity, switches, and related network infrastructure.
  • Participate in network and security audits.
  • Help ensure technology standards and procedures are followed.
  • Work with the existing technology team as responsibilities transition into the new department.

What We’re Looking For

  • Approximately eight to ten years of progressive IT experience.
  • Several years of direct systems administration experience.
  • Strong Windows and Active Directory knowledge.
  • VMware and virtualization experience.
  • Experience supporting servers, workstations, hardware, and users.
  • Exposure to networking, connectivity, backups, and security.
  • Broad technical knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • A patient, approachable communication style.
  • The confidence to enforce sound IT practices and appropriately push back on risky requests.
  • A willingness to remain hands-on while the team grows.

Manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.

An associate or bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field is desired, although equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Why Consider This Role?

  • Join a developing infrastructure and support function near the beginning.
  • Work across systems, hardware, servers, virtualization, users, and networking.
  • Learn from an experienced internal technology team.
  • Help train future employees as the department expands.
  • Build toward a potential supervisory opportunity.
  • Join a stable organization with strong benefits and long-tenured employees.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Approximately $60,000–$80,000 base salary.
  • Higher compensation may be considered for an exceptional candidate. Candidates targeting approximately $85,000–$90,000 may still be considered depending on qualifications.
  • Annual bonus opportunity historically around one month of salary, based on company performance and not guaranteed.
  • Strong health insurance and 401(k) benefits.
  • PTO earned every pay period and twelve paid holidays.
  • Additional PTO awards at designated service anniversaries.
  • Paid straight-time compensation for approved weekend project work.
  • Subsidized on-site cafeteria and fitness facilities.
  • Structured orientation and benefits enrollment support.
  • Relocation assistance may be available.

Work Arrangement

This is an on-site position in Lincoln, Nebraska and is not a hybrid role.

Limited remote flexibility may be available for unusual circumstances with management approval. There may also be occasional on-call or weekend project work, although most after-hours support can typically be handled remotely.
