The Role:

As a cafeteria attendant, you will be an important member of a team that creates an atmosphere of supporting our internal guest expectations, (the employees), each and every shift. We are looking for individuals that are self-starters, highly motivated and want to create a warm and welcoming experience for our employees. This position will allow you to develop your skills in Guest Services or build a career within the culinary industry

Job Duties:

  • Creates a warm and inviting first impression to guests (employees).
  • Responsible for serving and assisting with all meals served in our staff cafeteria.
  • Ensure that all high touch points are cleaned and sanitized and that you will maintain proper operational and control of meals.
  • Communicate with the Chef to learn the daily task lists and complete the daily prep list.
  • Restock clean dishes, glassware and flatware.
  • Replenish the condiments, bread, juice and coffee stations.
  • Sweep and mop the floors, sanitize tables and chairs.
  • While this is an entry-level kitchen role, you must be experienced with providing exceptional guest service, and also help the kitchen during slow times.
  • Perform all specific duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Chef on duty.
  • Set cafeteria buffet food before each meal time begins.
  • Adheres to the requirements of controlling food consumption via punching meal cards.

Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • Must be able to work efficiently in a minimal unsupervised environment
  • Be open to working a variety of different shifts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, must be a team player
  • Able to lift, carry and pull up to 40lbs, and able to constantly stand and walk throughout your shift
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate required
  • Completion of high school and some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training in the industry is an asset

Physical Demands:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods, up to the duration of the shift.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for food preparation, serving, cleaning, and operating kitchen equipment.
  • Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and twisting while stocking supplies, cleaning, and retrieving items.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent movement of food carts, bins, and supplies.
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace while providing friendly and efficient service during peak meal periods.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot kitchen environments and walk-in refrigerators/freezers.
