Walt Churchill’s Market is looking for a Full-Time Café Assistant for our Maumee, OH location.

Job Summary:

The Café Assistant provides exceptional service when greeting and assisting customers in the café area, on the sales floor, and on the phone. They will work with the Café Lead and Deli Department to prepare restaurant quality products for our customers to enjoy.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead and Sandwich Specialist in production of restaurant quality meals, salads, soups, and sandwiches daily
  • Follow in-store recipes to ensure quality and consistency of café products
  • Work with the Deli Manager in controlling production numbers and costs, including ordering product, tracking shrink, managing inventory, and optimizing products
  • Communicate well with the Café Lead and Deli Manager with regards to the daily needs of the café department and any concerns as they arise
  • Rotate products and keep the café case full and visually appealing throughout the day
  • Properly date and keep inventory of café products and supplies
  • Maintain the soup station throughout the day
  • Partner with the deli department to assist with catering orders as needed
  • Organize, clean, and sanitize the café area daily, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandated by government regulations
  • Train deli clerks in basic to intermediate culinary skills
  • Expanded deli duties or tasks may be assigned

Requirements:

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Passion for great tasting, quality food
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers
  • Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time

Education & Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of culinary school and/or 4+ years of restaurant kitchen and or/catering experience
  • ServSafe/Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, reaching, and chopping
  • Occasional instances of pushing, pulling, and squatting
  • Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds
