About the Role:

This position is responsible for the production of various types of transmission, civil/structural and distribution drawings from inception to completion.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Draft and prepare clear, accurate transmission line drawing packages, including plan-and-profile sheets, framing diagrams, pole loading details, assembly drawings, and construction prints.
  • Export, translate, and refine drafting outputs from PLS-CADD into 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD / MicroStation) for final plan production.
  • Perform drawing revisions, redline updates, and markups to produce final as-built drawings following project completion.
  • Perform basic area and volume calculations
  • Utilize existing aerial photography and survey data within drawing sets
  • Illustrate existing survey locations and boundaries
  • Create sitemaps with utilities for use in design plans
  • Assist in generating, organizing, and drafting bill-of-material schedules, hardware lists, and staking sheet details.
  • Ensure all drafting work strictly adheres to company drafting standards, client-specific CAD guidelines, and project layer management protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with transmission engineers, civil/structural drafters, and substation teams to ensure drawing consistency across interdisciplinary packages.

What You Bring:

  • Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma (required)
  • Graduate of a 2-year program in computer aided drafting and design techniques from an accredited college or technical school (preferred)
  • 2+ years of hands-on drafting experience, preferably in power delivery, utility, or heavy civil/infrastructure design (preferred)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Required) and AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or PLS-TOWER (Highly Preferred).
  • Working knowledge or proficiency with MicroStation (Preferred)
  • Basic understanding of utility standards (e.g., NESC guidelines, client drafting specifications)
  • Exceptional precision in drafting, layout formatting, layer management, and standard drawing sheet organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interpret engineering redlines and coordinate with project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple drafting assignments, meet firm project deadlines, and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Commitment to working safely and maintaining quality in alignment with company standards.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
