Job description

Location: Indianapolis

Reports to: Clinical Director

Classification: Part time/Hourly rate, Exempt

Position Summary

The Lead Substance Use Counselor (CADAC II) provides individual and group counseling services to adults residing in a 3.1 level of care substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program. The Lead Substance Use Counselor (CADAC II) delivers clinically appropriate interventions consistent with ASAM 3.1 standards, program policies, and Indiana regulatory requirements, focusing on recovery-oriented, person-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•                Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with each client.

•                Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy addressing substance use, co-occurring disorders, relapse prevention, coping skills, and recovery support.

•                Facilitate daily therapeutic groups consistent with program schedule and clinical needs.

•                Complete clinical documentation (assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries) in compliance with agency, state, and accreditation standards.

•                Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and discharge planning.

•                Coordinate with external providers, referral sources, and community resources to support continuity of care.

•               Support client engagement in peer support and recovery housing resources where applicable.

•                Maintain professional boundaries, ethical standards, and confidentiality per HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

•                Participate in ongoing supervision and continuing education to maintain certification and ensure best practices.

Qualifications

•                Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.

•                Licensure/Certification: Current CADC, LCAC, LAC, or equivalent credential recognized by the State of Indiana required.

•                Experience: Minimum one year of experience providing SUD or behavioral health counseling services in a residential or community setting preferred.Knowledge of ASAM Level 3.1 criteria and recovery-oriented treatment approaches.

•                Strong clinical documentation, communication, and crisis-intervention skills.

•                Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Work Schedule and Environment

Part-time schedule; may include evenings or weekends based on program needs. Work performed in a residential treatment setting serving adult clients. Assessments and one on one sessions can be performed via telehealth. Group meetings will take place at the facility 3 times a week.
