Job description

We are seeking a Network Infrastructure CAD Specialist to support a Department of Defense customer by developing and maintaining technical drawings and documentation for enterprise network infrastructure. This position is ideal for an experienced AutoCAD professional with a background in telecommunications, structured cabling, and network infrastructure documentation.

The successful candidate will work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and facilities teams to produce accurate technical drawings, rack elevations, logical network diagrams, and as-built documentation supporting mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain physical network topology diagrams and logical network infrastructure drawings
  • Create rack elevations, cable routing diagrams, fiber optic layouts, telecommunications room (MDF/IDF) drawings, and equipment placement diagrams
  • Produce high-quality AutoCAD drawing packages suitable for official government documentation
  • Update existing drawings and maintain accurate revision history and configuration control
  • Conduct site surveys and field verification to validate infrastructure and update documentation
  • Coordinate with engineers, facilities personnel, and project managers to document infrastructure changes
  • Produce and maintain as-built documentation following network installations and modernization efforts
  • Organize and maintain electronic drawing repositories and standardized templates
  • Ensure drawing packages comply with government, industry, and organizational standards
  • Develop material lists and supporting technical documentation
  • Participate in project planning meetings to identify documentation requirements and deliverables
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), a one-year CADD certificate, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of AutoCAD experience in an enterprise or commercial environment
  • Experience creating:
    • Physical network infrastructure drawings
    • Logical network diagrams
    • Rack elevations
    • Structured cabling documentation
    • Telecommunications room (MDF/IDF) layouts
    • As-built documentation
  • Experience importing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Visio drawings into AutoCAD
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, floor plans, and technical specifications
  • Strong proficiency with:
    • AutoCAD
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Visio
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
