CNC Machine Operator About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join a manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery, retrieving and staging raw materials, running provided programs, and ensuring finished work meets customer specifications.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Front-load forklift experience is required, and experience with CNC calculations, CAD/CAM software, and material handling equipment is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Retrieve and stage raw materials for production
  • Complete CNC machine setups and run provided programs
  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions before machining
  • Determine the appropriate tooling and equipment needed to complete each job
  • Adjust machine speeds, tooling, cutting methods, and other parameters to achieve accurate results
  • Monitor machine operation and respond appropriately to machine alarms or issues
  • Perform quality checks to ensure parts meet customer specifications
  • Safely operate a front-load forklift to move materials as needed
  • Safely operate an overhead crane while following all applicable safety procedures
  • Troubleshoot basic operational and technical issues
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures
  • Work independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Front-load forklift experience required
  • Previous CNC machine operating and setup experience
  • Approximately 3 years of experience with CNC calculations, CAD, and CAM software preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Basic math skills required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to concentrate and maintain attention to detail for extended periods
  • Previous overhead crane experience preferred
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on a concrete manufacturing floor
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
  • Comfortable working around CNC machinery, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other industrial equipment
  • Ability to work in a potentially loud manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to hear and respond to machine alarms
  • Ability to safely perform material handling and machine setup/changeover activities
  • Ability to properly position and align materials and machinery during setups
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots and safety glasses
  • Must have adequate close, distance, and color vision and the ability to adjust focus as required for the position
