Cache Programmers are software developers who specialize in designing, implementing, and optimizing caching mechanisms within computer systems or applications. Their primary role is to improve system performance by reducing access times to frequently used data, often working with technologies like in-memory caches, distributed caches, or hardware-level cache management. They analyze system bottlenecks, select suitable caching strategies, and ensure data consistency and reliability. Cache Programmers may also collaborate with other engineers to integrate caching solutions that scale with application demands.

What are some common challenges Cache programmers face when integrating InterSystems Caché with other systems?

Cache Programmers often encounter challenges when integrating InterSystems Caché with external databases or applications, such as handling data format differences and ensuring seamless data synchronization. These integrations can require a strong understanding of both Caché ObjectScript and the APIs or protocols of the other systems involved. Effective troubleshooting and communication with other technical teams are essential, as is staying updated on best practices for secure and performant data exchange. Being proactive in documenting integration workflows can also help mitigate future issues.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Cache programmer, and why are they important?

To excel as a Cache Programmer, you need solid experience with the MUMPS (or M) programming language, a thorough understanding of database design, and familiarity with InterSystems Cache technology. Proficiency with Cache Studio, ObjectScript, and relevant certifications from InterSystems are often required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you translate complex requirements into reliable code. These skills ensure robust application performance, data integrity, and efficient collaboration within healthcare or financial IT environments where Cache is prevalent.

Domeyard LP

Full-time

Job description

Company Description

Domeyard, LP is a quantitative hedge fund startup based in Boston, Massachusetts. We focus on developing low latency technologies to achieve extremely consistent, long-term capital growth enabling us to save millions of dollars for market investors each year. Our trading strategies are derived from the latest advances in high-performance computing and data analysis, making us one of the fastest market participants in the world. Domeyard operates around the clock, trading a diverse range of asset classes, including equities, futures, fixed income instruments, energy products and commodities. Innovation is our main differentiator: on any given day, we process more order messages than Google searches and Twitter messages combined. Our continuous pursuit of improvement to our technology enables us to uncover opportunities that are grossly inaccessible to mainstream fund managers and their investment vehicles. For its notable role in the industry, Domeyard is also the protagonist of Harvard Business School's first case study about high frequency trading.

Job Description

** We are offering only full-time opportunities at this moment. This is a Partner-level position, the highest title offered at this firm. By submitting your resume, you promise to keep all interview questions confidential, so as to give other candidates an equal chance. **

Setting new thresholds for modern computing

Domeyard is seeking a C++ Feed Handler Developer to work with us on the cutting edge of low latency trading technologies.

Here are some of the skills that we're looking for:

  • Experience developing low latency, line rate, multicast feed handlers against binary protocols (e.g. ITCH).
  • Experience with NUMA-aware, multithreaded design, userspace networking, compiler and cache optimizations, and lock-free programming.
  • A strong background in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming in C++ '11/C++ '14.

Our firm and culture

Domeyard is a hedge fund focused on high frequency trading. Our team consists of veterans in the HFT space and former senior engineers and researchers in companies such as GETCO, Goldman Sachs, Google and more. Our firm is backed by several institutional investors and hedge fund veterans.

Domeyard is a flat organization. To encourage openness and collaboration, there are no walls between teams, and ideas are exchanged freely throughout the company. Our flexible work hours, casual dress code, generous employee benefits, and startup environment (gaming room, team events and, of course, free food) ensure that you can commit fully to your intellectual interests. We welcome cultural diversity and are able to sponsor H-1B visas.

We are looking for people who share our passion for science and technology, add a fun-loving character to our team, and inspire growth in the people around them. You will have the immediate opportunity to lead relevant projects and influence the firm's general direction. You answer only to yourself and have the freedom and flexibility of an unlimited vacation policy. Feel free to show us any work that demonstrates your interests, e.g. code samples, academic publications, GitHub projects.

Qualifications

You must meet at least one of these minimum requirements:
