Job description

Position Overview

Turner Staffing Group is seeking experienced Underground Construction Supervisors to support a major underground decline infrastructure project for a new mine development. This role will oversee underground construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules and quality standards. Project length is expected to be 6-8 months in length.


Schedule: Ideally, 5 days on/4 off. Will consider other rotations for the right candidate.

Candidates with startup mine construction experience are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise underground decline and infrastructure construction activities.
  • Spend significant time in the field providing visible leadership and supporting crews.
  • Lead daily safety efforts, including job hazard analyses, field-level risk assessments, and incident follow-up.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Develop and execute weekly construction plans in coordination with project leadership.
  • Prioritize work activities to meet project milestones and production goals.
  • Conduct quality inspections and monitor construction progress.
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings and weekly planning sessions.
  • Support workforce development through coaching, performance management, and mentoring.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and construction process optimization.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure materials, equipment, and labor resources are available.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of underground construction experience, preferably in mining.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an underground environment.
  • Experience managing underground decline or mine infrastructure construction projects.
  • Startup mine development experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and field leadership.

Preferred Experience

  • Underground mine construction startup projects.
  • Heavy civil or underground infrastructure construction.
  • Scheduling and coordinating multiple construction crews.
  • Working in remote mining environments and rotational schedules.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is negotiable.
  • Opportunity for permanent conversion may exist, but is not expected.
  • Immediate project beginning in August.
