Job Summary

As the Structured Cabling Technician, you will ultimately be responsible for installing structured cabling systems, supporting large-scale copper and fiber optic projects, and ensuring installations meet quality and safety standards. You will work alongside field teams to complete customer projects while following industry best practices. Your customers are data center, commercial, and telecommunications clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through quality installations, teamwork, and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)

• Install structured copper and fiber cabling systems under the direction of a Lead Technician or Superintendent
• Interpret site drawings and installation documentation to complete assigned work accurately
• Perform large-scale copper and fiber installations, including closet build-outs and cable terminations
• Follow structured cabling installation standards, codes, best practices, and troubleshooting procedures
• Maintain a safe work environment and immediately report safety concerns to supervisors
• Travel to project sites throughout the Midwest and work flexible schedules, including second and third shifts, as required
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid Driver's License required
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of structured cabling installation experience.
• Experience installing copper and fiber optic cabling systems in commercial or telecommunications environments.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and installation documentation.
• Strong understanding of structured cabling standards, installation practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel extensively and work overtime, including second and third shifts, as required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely perform ladder and lift work.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

• BICSI Installer 1, Installer 2, or Technician certification
• OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or First Aid certification
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Experience enforcing safety practices on construction job sites

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work on ladders and lifts for extended periods
• Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions as project needs require
• Ability to travel extensively to project sites throughout the Midwest, including overnight travel
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
