Job description
A Fiber Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables to ensure reliable network connectivity. This role involves hands-on work with fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and customer interactions while adhering to safety standards and quality assurance protocols. The Fiber Technician reports directly to the Field Supervisor and frequently travels between sites, occasionally engaging in local travel.
Responsibilities
- Install fiber optic cables and associated network equipment
- Perform fiber splicing and termination
- Test fiber optic cables to ensure signal integrity
- Troubleshoot network and fiber issues
- Maintain safety compliance during all field operations
- Interact professionally with customers to address service needs
- Set up network connections and equipment
- Ensure quality assurance throughout installation and maintenance
- Lift and move up to 75lbs as required
- Work in various weather conditions and in aerial and underground environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work on ladders in aerial or underground environments (up to 28ft)
- Fiber optic splicing and cable installation knowledge
