Job Overview:

Pay Range: $21/hr-$26/hr

  • The Datacenter Technician is responsible for supporting data center operations, hardware installation, inventory management, troubleshooting, and remote hands activities. 
  • This role involves rack and stack operations, cabling, hardware maintenance, asset tracking, and providing first-level technical support while ensuring compliance with data center standards, safety protocols, and operational procedures.

Requirement/Must Have:

  • 1–2 years of data center, hardware support, or infrastructure experience.
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP networking, switching, and patching.
  • Knowledge of server hardware components and configurations.
  • Experience with fiber and Ethernet cabling.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or similar platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of console access tools such as SSH and PuTTY.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 shift environment.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage inventory and logistics-related tasks.

Experience:

  • Experience performing rack and stack activities in a data center environment.
  • Experience installing and cabling servers, switches, and network equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Move servers and switches to designated locations for installation.
  • Inspect servers and switches for physical damage prior to deployment.
  • Perform initial hardware validation and functionality checks.
  • Install servers, switches, and related hardware according to deployment specifications.
  • Route, bundle, and manage cabling according to established standards.
  • Verify connectivity and installation accuracy with network and infrastructure teams.
  • Install hardware components such as network interface cards, drives, and memory modules.
  • Assist with unboxing, staging, and preparation of equipment.
  • Perform audits of servers, hardware assets, and consumables.
  • Execute rack and stack activities for servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Handle fiber and copper cabling, including labeling and cable management.
  • Support hardware installation, relocation, and decommissioning projects.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify hardware shipments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, asset tracking, and documentation records.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and support hardware return processes.
  • Provide Level 1 support for incidents and service requests.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of server hardware and physical network connectivity issues.
  • Escalate issues to higher-level support teams with appropriate documentation.
  • Provide remote hands support including cable reseating, power cycling, console access setup, and guided hardware replacements.
  • Monitor data center alerts and update tickets with troubleshooting activities and status updates.
  • Maintain operational documentation, inventory records, and audit logs.
  • Follow data center security, safety, ESD, and PPE requirements.
  • Support compliance initiatives and audit readiness activities.
