Job description

Low Voltage Technician (Traveling)

Location: Nationwide Travel (100% Travel Required)

Schedule: Overnight Shifts

Employment Type: Contract

Travel: Company Vehicle & Gas Card Provided

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Low Voltage Technicians to support large-scale retail and commercial technology deployments across multiple customer sites nationwide. This role focuses on installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems, wireless infrastructure, IP cameras, network equipment, and low-voltage power systems.

Candidates should have hands-on experience working with copper and fiber cabling, be comfortable working overnight schedules, operating lifts, and collaborating with networking and electrical teams in fast-paced project environments. This position requires 100% travel for the duration of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, route, secure, dress, and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Perform RJ45 terminations and cable testing to ensure proper connectivity and performance.
  • Install and configure Wireless Access Points (WAPs) in retail and commercial environments.
  • Replace legacy analog camera systems with modern IP camera solutions.
  • Install, mount, and support surveillance cameras, racks, cabinets, and related infrastructure.
  • Pull, label, organize, and manage copper and fiber cabling according to project standards.
  • Install and support network switches and associated networking hardware.
  • Terminate and test fiber and copper network connections.
  • Install low-voltage power wiring, including 12/2 power cable for network-connected devices.
  • Assist with electrical installation work, including running power from existing circuits.
  • Install EMT conduit, junction boxes, pull boxes, and power supply infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with electricians and project personnel to complete integrated power and data installations.
  • Support Public Video Monitor (PVM) installations, including network and power connectivity.
  • Maintain accurate labeling, documentation, and installation records.
  • Operate scissor lifts and elevated work platforms safely during overhead installations.
  • Follow OSHA, customer, and site-specific safety requirements at all times.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with low-voltage and structured cabling installations.
  • Hands-on experience with Cat5e/Cat6 terminations and cable testing.
  • Experience pulling, dressing, labeling, and troubleshooting network cabling.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and travel extensively.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fiber optic installation and termination experience.
  • Wireless Access Point (WAP) deployment experience.
  • IP camera installation and migration experience.
  • Network switch installation and support experience.
  • EMT conduit installation experience.
  • Experience reading floor plans, site drawings, and cable schedules.
