Description
We offer hourly wages based on your work ethic. Your production will directly affect your pay. Training starts at $16/hr. Once you are on your own, base starting pay is $20/hr and increases as your production increases.
Benefits include; take home vehicle, tools provided, Group Rate Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401k, paid holidays and earned paid time off.
Our drop technicians carry 20-28ft fiberglass ladders and climb electric service poles to run fiber optic cable drops from the poles to customers' homes.
Our installation technicians take the fiber from the outside to the inside of the home and setup customer equipment to provide internet access.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Installers or Inside Techs work performing fiber optic installation services inside of customers' homes and running new drops from the service poles to the house. They may be exposed to inclement weather while working inside and outside customers' homes. Installers will be required to work near, about, adjacent to, and at times upon energized ("hot") lines and equipment local power board. Installers must possess the necessary skill, knowledge, training and experience to protect themselves and their fellow employees, customers and third parties from personal injury or property damage while performing their jobs. Installers must be knowledgeable of, and must observe, all applicable safety rules, including but not limited to the National Electrical Safety Code. Installers must be available to work on all scheduled workdays. They must be familiar with, and must be able to use, wireless communications, laptop computers, and similar equipment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The Technician reports directly daily to the Field Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
The Technician does not regularly exercise supervision over any other employees.
FULL-TIME/PART-TIME STATUS:
The Technician position is considered a regular, full-time position, and the employee is thereby eligible for all employment benefits which are offered to regular, full-time employees.
EXEMPT STATUS:
The Technician is paid on an hourly basis and is not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, including overtime provisions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires:
1. Frequent prolonged sitting, occasional prolonged standing, and frequent stooping, bending., kneeling, crouching and stretching.
2. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity, including but not limited to the ability to use office wireless communication and computer equipment, as well as all tools of the trade.
3. Ability to read well and to distinguish letters and symbols.
4. Ability to lift and comfortably maneuver an extension ladder weighing from 36.5-59.5 pounds occasionally.
5. Ability to lift 20 pounds from floor to knuckle occasionally.
6. Ability to lift 10 pounds from shoulder and above frequently.
7. Ability to crawl and maneuver in crawlspaces, attics, basements, and similar confined areas and close quarters frequently.
8. As a result of the requirement to work in close quarters frequently, it is also a physical requirement of the position that the employee must be able to fit through small opening and work in such tight spaces, and therefore, the employee's physical size must be such that these requirements can be met.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work generally involves travel to and from customers' locations and then working inside those customers' locations. Work will be performed on the side of the road, in the woods and through inclement weather. Occasionally work will be performed at other locations, such as at the company's warehouse, or elsewhere.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum one-year experience working as an installation/service technician in the CATV or related industry.
2. High school diploma or GED.
3. Valid driver's license.
4. Successful completion of company's pre-employment testing, including background check, motor vehicle report, and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
5. Continued adherence to company's drug free workplace rules and post-employment drug/alcohol screenings, including for cause, post-accident, and random screenings.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Strong customer service and communication skills.
2. Ability to work independently.
3. Dedication to the company's "safety first" initiative.
4. Comfortable working in a "pay for performance" environment.
5. Ability to utilize technologies such as a handheld device, computer, "smart" device, and/or GPS devices.

1. All functions listed under "General Summary of Duties" and "Physical Requirements," above, are deemed essential to the performance of the position.
2. In addition, in order to serve the company's customers, the ability to attend work as scheduled, and to attend with punctuality, are essential functions of the position. The position may require occasional irregular work hours, including overtime, in order to meet scheduling demands and otherwise meet customer needs, and therefore the ability to work such irregular hours on occasion, as needed, is an essential function of the position.
3. In addition, the ability to work well with and get along with co-workers, customers, and the public is an essential job function.
OTHER DUTIES:
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the Technician will be expected to perform other occasional duties and responsibilities, such as: assisting other job techs, performing some occasional errands, and other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
