Position Overview

The Cabinet Modifier plays a vital role in adapting and customizing semi-custom kitchen cabinets to meet specific design requirements and site conditions. This position requires strong woodworking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow work orders and shop drawings to modify cabinets efficiently and accurately. Common modifications include adjusting cabinet depth., Modification of cabinets ensuring compliance with ADA accessibility standards.


Key Reponsibilities


  • Modify pre-manufactured cabinets to fit unique layouts, appliances, or space constraints
  • Perform depth modifications (reduce/increase cabinet depth) to accommodate plumbing, appliances, or design changes
  • Execute ADA modifications to meet accessibility standards, such as adjusting cabinet height, toe-kick clearance, and reach range
  • Assemble cabinet components including doors, drawers, face frames, and boxes
  • Read and follow detailed work orders and shop drawings
  • Verify measurements and ensure modifications align with design intent
  • Communicate discrepancies or design conflicts to supervisors or engineers
  • Operate woodworking equipment including table saws, routers, edge banders, and sanders
  • Use hand tools to trim, shape, and finish cabinet parts
  • Perform minor repairs or reinforcements on cabinet components as needed
  • Inspect modified cabinets for accuracy, finish quality, and structural integrity
  • Ensure all modifications meet company standards and client expectations
  • Maintain consistency across multiple units in large-scale projects
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
  • Report equipment issues and assist with routine maintenance
