Job Description:
In this critical role, you will lead our Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) cabin upgrade projects. You will bridge the gap between complex engineering and real-world execution, taking full accountability for cabin architecture, engineering deliverables, and equipment development. If you thrive in a highly dynamic environment and want to see your designs take flight, we want you on our team.
Meet the team:
Our Engineers have the privilege of working on complex, highly engineered machines and are involved at all stages of the aircraft life cycle, from product development to manufacturing and direct support to our airline customers. If you're interested in designing, creating, and testing the present and future of Airbus products across the globe, join our mission to connect the world.
Your working environment:
The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.
How we care for you:
Financial Rewards: Competitive base salary, incentive compensation which may include profit sharing schemes, retirement savings plan and the ability to participate in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan ("ESOP")
Work/Life Balance: Paid time off including personal time, holidays and a generous paid parental leave program.
Health & Welfare: Comprehensive insurance coverage including medical (traditional and high-deductible health plans), prescription, dental, vision, life, disability, Employee Assistance Plan ("EAP") and other supplemental benefit coverages.
Individual Development: Upskilling and development opportunities through our global Leadership University, including unlimited access to 10,000+ e-learning courses focusing on ways to develop your employability, certifications, career path as well as the opportunity to participate in accelerated development programmes and both national and international mobility.
At Airbus, we support you to work, connect and collaborate more easily and accessibly. Wherever possible, we support flexible working arrangements to stimulate innovative thinking.
Your challenges:
End-to-End Orchestration: Drive all engineering activities linked to a cabin modification project from inception to delivery, meticulously monitoring schedule, cost, and risk.
Offer Phase: Partner with Sales to assess technical feasibility, define the scope of work, establish engineering assumptions, and estimate lead times and costs.
Architecture Phase: Lead Pre-Modification (Premod) analysis, manage configuration control, determine aircraft impacts, and draft Technical Requirement Specifications (TRS) and Long Lead Time Items (LLTI) lists.
Development Phase: Supervise 3D/2D pre-studies, 3D model integration, clash analysis, and the production of Cabin Definition/Installation drawings. Support Weight & Balance (W&B) calculations, Service Bulletin (SB) redacts, and Ground/Flight Test Plans.
Supplier Governance: Act as the primary technical focal point for suppliers during critical milestones (ITCM, PDR, CDR, FPDR, and FAI).
In-Service & Working Party Support: Provide on-site engineering support during aircraft embodiment and assist airline operators with post-delivery technical queries.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all cabin modifications strictly comply with Airbus engineering standards, aviation regulations, and rigorous safety requirements.
Process Integrity: Perform all design and justification activities in accordance with Airbus-approved processes, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Delivery Excellence: Commit to delivering engineering packages within agreed-upon budgets and timelines.
Process Optimization: Proactively identify opportunities to simplify engineering workflows, tools, and processes.
Knowledge Sharing: Champion a culture of continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned from completed retrofit projects and integrating them back into the global team.
