Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) / Safety Professional

We are currently seeking a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)/Safety Professional to support our SFHP Project.
We are seeking an experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to join our Project Safety Team and provide both Industrial Hygiene expertise and field safety leadership. This role is expected to be a balanced assignment, with approximately 50% of the time dedicated to Industrial Hygiene oversight and support and 50% supporting overall project safety operations in the field.
The CIH will provide technical oversight of subcontractor Industrial Hygiene programs, plans, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, contract specifications, and industry best practices. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Safety Manager and project leadership to protect worker health and safety through effective hazard recognition, exposure assessment, subcontractor oversight, and field safety engagement.
This position requires a highly visible field presence and includes participation in day, night, and weekend work schedules as necessary to support project operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Industrial Hygiene Responsibilities
• Review, evaluate, and approve subcontractor Industrial Hygiene plans, procedures, and health protection programs.
• Provide technical oversight of subcontractor Industrial Hygiene activities and exposure assessment strategies.
• Conduct evaluations of workplace health hazards, including chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
• Review exposure monitoring data and assess employee health risks.
• Recommend and evaluate engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment.
• Identify deficiencies in subcontractor IH programs and provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective guidance.
• Support respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and other occupational health programs.
• Conduct field audits and assessments to verify implementation of approved Industrial Hygiene controls.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations related to Industrial Hygiene performance and compliance.
• Serve as the project's Industrial Hygiene subject matter expert.
Safety Responsibilities
• Function as an active member of the Project Safety Team supporting daily construction and operational activities.
• Conduct field safety observations, inspections, audits, and assessments.
• Participate in work planning reviews, pre-task planning, and hazard analyses.
• Provide safety coaching and mentoring to supervisors, workers, and subcontractor personnel.
• Assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development.
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and compliance with project requirements.
• Support implementation of project safety programs, procedures, and initiatives.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and field leadership engagements.
• Promote a strong safety culture through visible field presence and worker engagement.
• Support day, night, weekend as required by project needs.
Required Qualifications
• Current Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Industrial Hygiene and/or occupational health and safety.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large construction, industrial, energy, DOE, nuclear, manufacturing, or similar high-hazard environments.
• Experience reviewing and evaluating contractor or subcontractor safety and Industrial Hygiene programs.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ACGIH limitations, exposure assessment methodologies, and occupational health programs.
• Experience working in field-based safety leadership roles.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to influence personnel and leaders across multiple organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting DOE, nuclear, federal government, or major construction projects.
• CSP, CHST, or other relevant professional certifications.
• Experience with respiratory protection program management and exposure monitoring.
• Knowledge of Integrated Safety Management (ISM) principles.
• Experience supporting 24/7 operations and rotating work schedules.
Work Schedule and Environment
• Approximately 50% Industrial Hygiene support and 50% field safety support.
• Frequent field presence in active construction and industrial environments.
• Must be able to work rotating schedules, including nights, weekends, and extended hours, as project demands require.
• Ability to wear required PPE and access all project work areas.

This individual will possess strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to coach and influence personnel at all levels of the organization.
Compensation Details:
$160,000 - $190,000
