SEEKING BOARD CERTIFIED CRITICALIST AT ANGELL (BOSTON, MA)

The Angell Animal Medical Center (AAMC) in historic Boston, MA is seeking applicants for a board certified criticalist with an emergency focus.

Angell has served the greater Boston and scenic New England area as a primary care facility, a 24-hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center for over a century.ย  Angell is a premier veterinary institution staffed by 55 senior veterinarians, 20 interns, 6 specialty interns, and 16 residents.ย  Angell offers specialty services in anesthesiology, avian and exotic medicine, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, and surgery. AAMC is a rich educational environment offering weekly on-site continuing education seminars and regular multi-disciplinary specialty rounds. We have residency programs in ECC, surgery, cardiology, and internal medicine.

Working for a veterinary hospital that clearly delivers on its mission of advancing the health and welfare of animals adds a wonderful dimension to delivering high quality veterinary medicine.ย  Angell is a 501 c3 non-profit and employment qualifies for the federal student loan Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF).

Our doctors practice in an ~ 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hospital containing a new intensive care unit with mechanical ventilation capabilities and hemodialysis, blood bank.ย  Our hospital has 35 exam rooms, 8 surgical suites, CT/MRI/fluoroscopy, a new full service clinical laboratory, microbiology service, necropsy suite, histopathology laboratory for on-site biopsy evaluation, and a linear accelerator that can perform stereotactic radiosurgery.

Our ECC service is comprised of 6 criticalists, 6 residents, and 9 ER doctors.ย  The in-patient nursing staff includes 53 technicians/assistants, 5 of whom are ECC-VTS certified.

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a board certified criticalist for a 2nd shift position.ย  Applicants should expect some participation and management of the ER side of our service.ย  This is not just a Critical Care position.

All ECC senior staff at Angell are involved in the mentoring of residents and interns, and expected to have active and eager participation in both cage side rounds and formal didactic ECC rounds. Growth opportunities include participation in service or hospital leadership, intern and residency program director positions.

REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for multi-tasking and working successfully in a team environment. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to the veterinary and technical staff as well as clients and referring veterinarians. Interested applicants should be highly motivated and embody the values of our organization; compassion, excellence, service, integrity, positivity, and collaboration. Qualified applicants must have a DVM or equivalent and ACVECC board certification.
