Job description

Class C Driver Local Truck Driver

The Class C Driver Local Truck Driver is responsible for general labor including but not limited to driving, loading, and unloading Class C bobtail trucks. May also assist with lifting, carrying and/or pushing boxes of produce and other items.

Work Schedule:

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Properly load and unload trucks from loading dock, using ramps or lift-gates, to protect goods being moved.
  • Perform pre-trip check and safely drives vehicles up to and including class C bobtails.
  • Complete assigned paperwork accurately and neatly and turn into dispatch daily.
  • Push, pull, lift, carry and move boxes as required.
  • Perform work with quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Pick, load and deliver orders to our stores.
  • Drive a bobtail truck. Be able to operate electric hand jack.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driving record that meets the company's insurance carrier's requirements
  • 1 year driving Class C bobtail trucks or related experience

Required Skills:

  • California class C license with a clean record. Drive a truck 16-20 ft truck.

Preferred Skills:

  • Two to three (2-3) years' experience in warehouse environment preferred
  • Valid forklift certification preferred
  • Speaking Spanish is a plus. Produce, food and provision knowledge is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Willing to work weekends and overtime as needed is preferred
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening including background check, drug testing and physical
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday
  • Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret documents written in English such as procedures, work instructions, bills of lading, and timesheets
  • Ability to speak and communicate well in English with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
