Job description

Job Requirements

Step into a role where advanced practice meets high-acuity vascular care-and where your expertise directly improves lives every single day.

At University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC), part of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), we're building a vascular care program grounded in collaboration, innovation, and excellence. As a Vascular Surgery APP, you'll join a highly skilled, supportive clinical team with strong physician and peer collaboration, dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered vascular care.

What You'll Do

You'll work closely with vascular surgeons and the interdisciplinary care team to manage complex vascular patients across the continuum of care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing inpatient and outpatient vascular consults and follow-ups
  • Providing pre-and post-procedural patient care, assessment, and education
  • Collaborating closely with physicians, APP peers, and clinical staff in a highly supportive environment
  • Supporting care coordination and clinical decision-making for high-acuity patients
  • Contributing to quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives

Schedule

This is a full-time weekday position with a consistent schedule:

  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
  • No call
  • No routine nights or weekends
  • In addition to working at BWMC, providers (both APPs and physicians) may rotate to outpatient office locations in Queenstown and Easton, with a new Annapolis location coming soon, to support patient access and continuity of care.

Why BWMC & UMMS

Working at BWMC means joining a community hospital with the backing of a world-class academic health system. Through UMMS, you'll have access to cutting-edge resources, specialty collaboration, and ongoing professional development-all while maintaining a close-knit, team-oriented environment.

This is a supportive practice environment where physicians and APP peers actively collaborate, teach, and support one another, ensuring you're never practicing in isolation.

Life in the Baltimore-Washington Region

Located in Anne Arundel County, BWMC sits between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., offering an ideal blend of urban energy and suburban comfort.

Enjoy:

  • Annapolis waterfront dining and sailing
  • Baltimore's Inner Harbor, arts, and sports scene
  • Washington, D.C. museums, concerts, and culture
  • Easy access to beaches, parks, and outdoor recreation

Why This Role Stands Out

This is more than an APP role-it's a chance to build expertise in a growing vascular program, work within a highly supportive team, and make a direct impact on patient outcomes every day. If you're looking for a role where advanced practice meets advanced purpose, this is it.

Work Experience

We're seeking a confident, highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) who thrives in an acute care setting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Maryland (or eligibility)
  • National certification as an NP (Family, Adult, or Acute Care) or NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants
  • Clinical experience in surgery, interventional radiology, cardiology, or acute care strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage complex, high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, physician-supported practice model

Benefits

The University of Maryland Medical System offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your career, wellbeing, and life outside of work:

  • Competitive salary and advanced practice compensation structure
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage options
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • Retirement savings plans with employer contributions
  • CME allowance and dedicated CME time
  • Tuition assistance and professional development support
  • Loan repayment and forgiveness program eligibility (for qualifying roles)
  • Robust malpractice coverage
  • Wellness programs and employee assistance resources
  • Career growth opportunities across a large academic health system
