Under the supervision of the Butler Medical Transport/Best Care Ambulance Leadership team the Paramedic is an integral part of the EMS team, providing medical care during emergent and nonemergent transports. The Paramedic is responsible for assessing patients' conditions, administering advanced life support, and transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. Paramedics are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and making a significant impact on patient‘s lives. The role of the Paramedic requires exceptional leadership qualities, advanced training and education, demands quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of a Paramedic
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to EMT and AEMT crew members
  • Respond to emergent and non-emergent transports
  • Provides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staff
  • Ability operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tablet
  • Completion of patient contact reports prior to shift completion
  • Ensure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readiness
  • Maintain cleanliness of station
  • Maintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEs
  • Remain current on all state protocols, policies, and/or procedures
  • Represent BMT/BCA at community events as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation From High School or equivalent
  • Must be at least 19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposes
  • Successful completion of NR Paramedic certification
  • Current NR Paramedic and State Paramedic (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)
  • Current AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Current AHA ACLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Current AHA PALS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Knowledge of pumps, vents, and monitors utilized in EMS care
  • Ability to provide quality patient care within scope of practice
  • Knowledge of all state protocols for a Paramedic
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive company vehicles with a clean driving record
  • Successful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 days
  • Ability to pass a lift test of 150 – 200 pounds
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Ability to speak and write English
