Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. LWTech offers , , and in , including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

JOB SUMMARY
Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking a qualified part time instructor for the Business Technology program. All instructor positions require two or more years of work experience; college teaching experience and industry certifications are preferred. Business Technology instructors will be very proficient with the current version of Microsoft Office software, preferably have Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification, and be prepared to teach latest applications and more.
Courses you may teach would include:
Microsoft Outlook, Core and Expert level Microsoft Word, Core and Expert level Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Publisher, and Web-Based Technologies. Some of these classes require on-campus instruction.
The primary goal of the Business Technology program is to prepare students to use various software applications in a work environment to enhance day-to-day business operations. Note, this is not a Business Administration program, the emphasis is on software training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goals
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments
  • Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum
  • Develop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity and non-discrimination
  • Teach productive and constructive study skills to students
  • Design, deliver, and assess courses in keeping with course learning outcomes using online course system (currently Canvas)
  • Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements
  • Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students
  • Design learning experiences that are ADA compliant and using UDL principles

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years related work experience
  • College teaching experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications strongly preferred
  • Experience with Canvas or similar LMS strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations
  • Due to the diversity of the college population, we encourage applicants who are multilingual
  • Previous experience with Canvas strongly preferre

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
CompensationPlacement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B.

Step 2 ranges from $819.15 - $2,457.46
Step 3 ranges from $835.95 - $2,507.85
Step 4 ranges from $893.51 - $2,680.54
Step 5 ranges from $916.30 - $2,748.90
Step 6 ranges from $957.08 - $2,871.24
BenefitsOnce part-time faculty have worked 50% full-time or more for two consecutive quarters(with LWTech or combined with other community/technical colleges), Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability and other insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board, State Retirement Plan and a Deferred Compensation Plan; sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on % of FTE) effective upon employment. A part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more of in-class teaching at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options.
