Business System Analyst

Experienced Business System Analysts -bring your experience to work for you where people love to shop! We are looking for a Business System Analyst to join our team.

As part of a fast-paced, dynamic Information Technology team, you will serve as a key interface between business teams and IT, helping business partners clarify needs, document requirements, and translate goals into actionable work for technical teams. This role requires someone who is solution oriented while also able to facilitate requirements discussions separately from solutioning sessions, ensuring the team understands the business need before moving into design. Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with business leaders and subject matter experts to understand goals, pain points, processes, and desired outcomes

  • Facilitate requirements sessions with business teams and clearly separate those discussions from solutioning or design sessions when appropriate

  • Document requirements in the format that best fits the effort, including traditional Business Requirements Documents, functional specifications, process flows, or user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira

  • Translate business requirements into actionable work for IT teams while maintaining traceability to business objectives and decisions

  • Collaborate closely with Network, Database, Security, Development, and other internal and vendor technical teams to evaluate solution options and support delivery

  • Prototype and participate in proofs of concept to evaluate possible solutions after requirements are understood and agreed upon

  • Participate in testing, validation, and user acceptance activities to ensure delivered solutions meet documented business needs

  • Perform data and process analysis to identify opportunities for technical or process improvement, risks, benefits, and tradeoffs

Qualifications

  • Strong ability to communicate with business stakeholders, ask effective questions, and document clear, complete, and testable requirements

  • Experience creating business requirements documents, functional specifications, process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria; Jira experience preferred

  • Flexible approach to working with teams at different levels of process maturity, adapting documentation and facilitation methods to meet teams where they are

  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to document systems through technical documentation and visual representation

  • Experience with design and process tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io, or similar platforms

  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data analysis concepts

  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC); agile experience a plus

  • Experience with retail systems, a plus

  • Experience with Python or another programming language, a plus
