Over the first year or two, a successful associate will develop robust proficiency/understanding of the following. Therefore competitive applicants will need to demonstrate depth in some combination of the below competencies. While prior experience in the aerospace & defense industry is not a prerequisite, interest in pursuing a career in the sector will be a key aspect of candidate selection given our firm's focus.
Required (some exposure, not complete fluency in each):
• Electronic system functional/technical knowledge: Systems level understanding of key electronics systems and their major sub-systems
• Electronics supply chain familiarity: How companies are positioned and compete in the electronics supply chain from components to integrated sub-systems
• Business dynamics: The way strategy, operations, customers, and market forces interact over time to shape how a business behaves and changes
Preferred:
• Defense market and programmatic dynamics: How defense budgets, procurement programs, technology needs, and contractor competition interact over time to shape what gets funded, bought, delayed, and/or scaled in the defense sector
Primary day-to-day responsibilities - Strategy Consultant (Associate-level)
• Join a leading strategy consulting team to support business development and drive execution of client engagements, provide subject matter input, lead analysts, and report to senior consultants
• Support engagements with clients ranging from large defense primes and multi-industry conglomerates, to emerging technology firms and high-growth start-ups
• Distill industry trends, expert opinions, domain expertise, and detailed defense budgetary analysis into concise and compelling insights to help advise clients on core strategic issues
• Deliver/communicate reports and findings to client management and/or executive leadership
• Contribute to internal thought leadership initiatives related to defense electronics topics such as forecast model development, identification of industry trends, and staff training
Preferred qualifications
• Applicants must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
• 4 to 6+ years of work experience, with A&D sector experience preferred (whether in industry or consulting roles)
• Strong academic background with bachelor's or higher engineering degree, strong preference for electrical engineering; MBA or MS preferred
• Strong acumen in business writing and communication with clients and team members
• Comfort with data analysis and strong presentation skills
