Job description

Technique, Inc. is looking for a Sales Manager for our Big Steel Rack and pit product line to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. Reporting to the CEO, you will own the full commercial function for Big Steel Rack and Pit Products product lines, driving revenue across every sales channel: proactive outside sales, our dealer and distributor network, and digital and inbound marketing. You will also manage quoting, coordinate order entry, coordinate closely with engineering and operations on custom-configured systems, and represent the product line at industry trade shows.
The ideal candidate is a self-driven business-to-business sales professional with experience in digital marketing, outbound sales, and building and managing dealer or distributor channels. You pair the drive to prospect and close with the discipline to onboard partners and respond quickly to inbound leads.
Responsibilities:
  • Channel Strategy: Own and execute the go-to-market plan across all sales channels, including proactive outside sales, the dealer and distributor network, and digital and inbound marketing.
  • Outside Sales: Proactively prospect, qualify, and close new business.
  • Dealer and Distributor Management: Recruit, onboard, train, and support dealers and distributors, managing partner performance against defined targets.
  • Digital and Inbound Marketing: Grow and manage the digital and inbound channel, including SEO, content, ROI tools, and the online quoting experience, and respond quickly to inbound leads to convert them into orders.
  • Quoting and Order Entry: Prepare accurate quotes for standard and custom-configured systems, enter and manage sales orders in the ERP system, secure deposits, and process order paperwork through to production.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with engineering, operations, and marketing to scope custom systems, confirm lead times, and ensure a smooth handoff from quote to production to delivery.
  • Pricing and Margin Management: Maintain and apply pricing tiers, account for steel-cost movement in quotes, and protect the product line's margin targets.
  • Trade Shows and Brand Presence: Represent the product line at industry trade shows, run live demonstrations, and build a library of customer case studies and references.
  • Forecasting and Reporting: Maintain the CRM, track pipeline and channel performance, and provide regular sales forecasts and activity reporting to leadership.
  • Product Expertise: Develop deep knowledge of the product line, including load capacities, configurations, to advise customers and partners with authority.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of business-to-business sales experience, preferably in capital equipment, material handling, storage systems, or industrial products
  • Experience developing and managing dealer, distributor, or reseller channels
  • Demonstrated track record of prospecting, closing, and meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Ability to read technical specifications and blueprints and to quote engineered or custom-configured products
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Experience with order entry and ERP systems
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Able to work on an active manufacturing floor and be comfortable in an environment with noise, machinery, and fumes
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Position Type and Expected Hours:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Standard business hours apply, with additional hours as needed to meet customer and sales demands. Travel is expected for customer visits, dealer and distributor support, and industry trade shows.
