North Platte Valley Medical Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Business Office Supervisor to lead our Business Office team. This role oversees day-to-day business operations, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, admissions, billing, patient accounts, and resident trust funds, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in alignment with hospital standards.

As part of the leadership team, the Business Office Supervisor provides guidance to business office staff, supports revenue cycle processes, and collaborates with hospital administration to maintain financial and operational excellence. This position supervises Business Office processes while coordinating billing, collections, insurance follow-up, claim management, patient accounts, payment processing, and revenue cycle workflows. The supervisor ensures compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and payer requirements while promoting operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, admissions, deposits, census, medical insurance, and patient/resident trust accounts.

  • Oversee billing processes for Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, VA, and patient responsible parties. 

  • Oversee claim processing by uploading and reconciling claims from Meditech to Quadax, reviewing claim transmission reports, resolving claim edits and rejections, and monitoring key Meditech worklists including Account Checks, Combined Account Charges, Denial Management, Unapplied Self-Pay, and Batch Desktop.
  • Supervise and support Business Office staff, including registration/admissions, billing, and coding.

  • Assist with payer credentialing, enrollment, and contract management.

  • Direct billing, accounts receivable, denial management, collections, patient statements, refund requests, Financial Assistance applications, and payment plan activities to ensure timely reimbursement and accurate patient account resolution.
  • Monitor collections, payment arrangements, and interactions with insurance companies and agencies.

  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and hospital regulations related to business office functions.

  • Maintain accurate business office systems, records, and reports.

  • Participate in facility leadership and committee meetings.

  • Prepare revenue cycle reports, monitor key performance indicators, identify opportunities for process improvement, assist with policy development, and provide education and guidance to Business Office staff to support continuous operational improvement.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff regarding billing and financial matters.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the manager. Identifies organization problems and opportunities for improvement and brings solutions and suggestions to supervisor’s attention.


Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: Critical Access Hospital Experience Required 

    • Minimum of 5-8 years in Billing Office Operations, Experience in Electronic Medical Records Systems, preferably Meditech. Additional education in business, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.

  • Skills: Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Proficiency with business office software and systems.

  • Must pass background check, drug screening, and TB test prior to hire.

  • Must maintain a professional, ethical, and customer-service–focused approach at all times.


Position Details
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (may require occasional flexibility for audits or surveys).

  • Work Environment: Professional hospital office setting with standard office equipment.
