Location: Primarily at the United States Disciplinary Barracks (USDB), but any other college location as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
SUMMARY
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for Adjunct faculty to teach Business Law and related courses, primarily at the USDB. There may be additional sections to be taught at any location including daytime, online, virtually, and/or at area high schools.
This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.
POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Conduct all class sessions according to schedule.
  • Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover all student learning objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
  • Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation, and collaboration. Engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills.
  • Organize and explain content using methods that are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences.
  • Assign and provide feedback for in and out-of-class work, monitor student progress and maintain accurate record of students' performances.
  • Monitor student progress.
  • Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements.
  • Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to arrive on time and be ready to teach course(s) during scheduled times.
  • Ability to prepare curricular materials to convey learning objectives to students.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Blackboard for posting assignments, assessing students, performances, and grading.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
  • Ability to be organized and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with a students, staff, and faculty.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications with an emphasis on Word.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSย 

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with contract law, employment law, and/or regulatory compliance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3+) or more years of teaching experience.
  • Teaching experience in an open-enrollment, urban community college.
  • Two (2) years of related experience outside of teaching.
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (KCKCC uses Blackboard Ultra).
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.

WORK SCHEDULE
Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. Scheduled class time ranges from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM CST. May require evening and weekend hours. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollments, or on program and scheduling changes.
