Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies’ core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.

As the Business Intelligence Analyst, you turn enterprise and site data into trusted reporting, metric consistency, and actionable insight that improves operational visibility, financial confidence, and decision-making. You design and support dashboards, semantic models, and recurring reporting, partnering closely with business process owners, ERP stakeholders, and the enterprise data organization to create reliable, governed, and scalable BI solutions. Your work strengthens reporting clarity, reduces manual effort, and supports enterprise-wide performance and integration efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, builds, and maintains business intelligence dashboards, scorecards, data visualizations, and recurring reports.
  • Translates business requirements into reporting specifications, data models, governed metrics, calculations, and visual layouts.
  • Develops and optimizes Power BI reports, semantic models, dataflows, measures, transformations, and templates aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Manages Power BI workspace practices, publishing, gateways, security models, refresh schedules, lineage, and performance optimization.
  • Partners with ERP and business systems owners to understand data structures, transactional flows, reporting gaps, and process dependencies.
  • Supports reporting across ERP-enabled processes and assists with data validation, reconciliation, cleanup, and standardization.
  • Analyzes data to identify trends, exceptions, risks, and performance gaps, and communicates insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Builds and maintains BI datasets, reporting layers, semantic models, and certified data products while documenting sources, lineage, calculations, and known limitations.
  • Partners with functional owners to standardize reporting definitions, ensure process alignment, and support workshops, requirements sessions, and user acceptance testing.
  • Supports executive reporting, portfolio visibility, value tracking, and benefits realization with concise, accurate, decision-oriented outputs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, information systems, data analytics, computer science, finance, operations, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of hands-on experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, enterprise resource planning (ERP) reporting, or business systems analysis.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, data models, scorecards, or analytics solutions for business users.
  • Strong Excel capability and working proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL), relational data concepts, joins, aggregation, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards and semantic models using several of the following: Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Power Query, dataflows, gateways, workspace permissions, row-level security, refresh monitoring, deployment pipelines, or performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with an enterprise BI platform; recent Microsoft Power BI experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to gather requirements, analyze business processes, document reporting needs, and translate them into BI solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify trends, gaps, exceptions, and root causes.
  • Experience partnering with stakeholders across functions such as operations, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, engineering, programs, or human resources (HR).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data, metrics, assumptions, and insights clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple reporting requests and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI including dashboard development, semantic models, Power Query, DAX, dataflows, workspace management, gateways, permissions, refresh schedules, or performance optimization.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP or similar platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, or NetSuite.
  • Experience reporting on manufacturing, quality, supply chain, finance, inventory, production, program, or operational performance.
  • Experience with Epicor business activity queries (BAQs), dashboards, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Data Management Tool (DMT), REST APIs, SQL Server, Power Query, DAX, dataflows, or semantic models.
  • Familiarity with data governance, master data management, data quality, metadata, reporting standards, and system‑of‑record decisions.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, Dataverse, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, or related Microsoft data tools.
  • Familiarity with SOX, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800‑171, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), controlled unclassified information (CUI), access controls, or audit‑driven reporting environments.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions (M &A), site reporting standardization, ERP harmonization, or enterprise reporting consolidation.
  • Power BI, Microsoft Data Analyst, SQL, Epicor, Lean Six Sigma, business analysis, or analytics-related certification preferred.
