What We’re Looking For


Trillium Health Resources has a career opening for a Tribal Liaison to join our team! The Tribal Liaison is responsible for serving as the primary point of contact for the federally recognized Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and state Tribes within the Trillium Health Resources catchment area. The Tribal Liaison will represent and serve as a conduit between Trillium and tribal leadership, American Indian communities, tribal councils, and advisory boards for the purpose of coordinating all functions and activities, customizing training curricula and communication to reflect each tribe’s unique identity, as well as informing Trillium policies and best practices as it relates to Native American business operations.


On a typical day, you might:


  • Serve as internal ombudsman for any Tribal member resolving complex issues, navigating systems, and determining appropriate actions to support individuals and address systemic barriers.
  • Monitor and ensure the integration of the Native American Cultural Sensitivity and Humility Training with the Trillium Staff and Provider Operations.
  • Coordinate between the Trillium Tribal Administrative Team and the Lumbee Health and Human Services team on a quarterly basis or as requested by the Tribe. Assist in the joint development of the agenda.
  • Represent Trillium and coordinate joint meetings between state and federal Tribes as appropriate.
  • Provide and analyze feedback for health disparity issues occurring in the tribal population receiving services through the Lumbee Tribe via Trillium. Work in collaboration with tribal providers and with Trillium’s Contracting Tribal Specialist to identify opportunities for healthcare innovation and improvement for tribal members.

Qualifications


Required:

  • High School diploma/GED and six (6) years’ experience working in the health field with tribal communities and programs; OR
  • Associate’s degree in Public Policy, Sociology, Education, Ethnic Studies, Social Justice, Social Work, Public Health, Publication Administration, Psychology, or Human Services and four (4) years’ experience working in the health field with tribal communities and programs; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Sociology, Education, Ethnic Studies, Social Justice, Social Work, Public Health, Publication Administration, Psychology, or Human Services and two (2) years’ experience working in the health field with tribal communities and programs; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must reside within Trillium’s Southern Region, which includes the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Hoke, Lee, Moore, New Hanover, Robeson, and Scotland.
  • Must be able to travel within catchment as required.


Preferred:

  • Experience with and understanding of government-to-government relationships between states and sovereign tribal nations
  • Experience in working with federal and/or state Tribal partners on matters related to contracting or stakeholder engagement
