About the role


At Innovasea, we're revolutionizing aquatic ecosystem monitoring with cutting-edge technology. Our HydroAI platform uses artificial intelligence to automate fish counting and species identification-helping hydropower operators meet environmental regulations and protect aquatic life.


We're looking for a passionate and strategic Business Development Manager to lead the charge in expanding HydroAI's reach. If you thrive at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and business strategy, this is your chance to make a real impact.


Key Responsibilities


  • Proactively identify high-value business opportunities across hydropower, tidal energy, and environmental monitoring markets.
  • Build and deepen highvalue relationships with utilities, regulators, engineering firms, and research institutions- expanding Innovasea's footprint and influence.
  • Drive gotomarket strategy, including competitive positioning, pricing models, and partnerships that accelerate HydroAI adoption.
  • Lead highimpact proposal development for RFPs, grants, and strategic collaborations, owning the process from opportunity discovery to final submission
  • Represent Innovasea as a senior voice at industry events, regulatory forums, and partner discussions-championing HydroAI and shaping market direction.
  • Proactively identify high-value business opportunities across hydropower, tidal energy, and environmental monitoring markets.
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable product and strategies, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams.
  • Influence regulatory discussions, funding programs, and industry initiatives that align with Innovasea's strategic priorities.
  • Communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts clearly to executive, scientific, and operational audiences.
  • Bring structure, discipline, and predictability to the BD function, improving pipeline reporting, pursuit processes, customer segmentation, and win strategies.


What We're Looking For


    • 8+ years in business development, preferably in environmental tech, hydropower, or AI.
    • A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
    • Deep understanding of environmental compliance and aquatic ecosystems.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
    • Hands-on experience managing opportunities in Salesforce
    • Comfort owning a pipeline end-to-end: lead tracking, forecasting, reporting, and follow-ups
    • Discipline around data hygiene and sales process
    • Using CRM insights to prioritize accounts and drive revenue
    • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

    Nice to have

    • Experience with fish passage systems or aquatic telemetry.
    • Familiarity with AI/ML technologies.
