The healthcare industry never stops evolving, and neither do we. MidFirst Bankโ€™s National Healthcare Lending team is seeking a disciplined, top-performing Business Development Officer to originate healthcare banking relationships across the country. We combine sound credit principles with the ability to fund complex transactions ranging from large-scale startup construction to major refinances and syndicated loans.

MidFirst Bank combines the financial strength, lending capacity, and resources of the nation's largest privately owned bank with a relationship-banking approach to decision-making, responsiveness, and client service.

This is an opportunity to bring your network, credit knowledge, and business development skills to a healthcare lending team with a proven track record of closing complex transactions.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations Include:

National Market Travel
Travel independently 20% or more directly to prospects and actively network at industry conferences to build direct operator relationships.

Multi-Stage Pipeline Management
Manage a high volume of complex transactions at various stages simultaneously while developing a robust pipeline of opportunities through proactive outreach and disciplined follow-up.

Deal Ownership
Assume primary responsibility for the entire transaction process from initial opportunity identification through underwriting, approval, documentation, and loan closing.

Proven Credit Analytical Skills
Independently evaluate income, cash flow, balance sheets, and repayment capacity to accurately determine which opportunities are likely to gain approval.

Lead Negotiating Skills
Serve as the lead negotiator with prospects to establish sound transaction structures and appropriate covenant requirements. Drive client discussions directly and address structural challenges independently while collaborating with management.

Written & Verbal Communication Skills
Utilize highly effective communication skills to draft clear opportunity memos, management briefs, and borrower communications.

Legal Comprehension
Read and understand complex commercial loan and legal documentation to ensure final documents accurately reflect approved terms and structures.

Loan Closing Management
Successfully drive and manage the end-to-end loan closing process in partnership with internal operations and support teams.

What Youโ€™ll Bring to the Team:

Open Collaboration
Actively participate in a team where all opinions are valued. We welcome fresh ideas and expect all members to speak up, challenge assumptions, and suggest new lending structures.

Team Player
Partner effectively with all internal and external parties, maintaining productive working relationships with underwriting, credit committee members, treasury personnel, legal counsel, appraisers, and administrative support staff.

Direct Communication
Manage borrower expectations with honesty and transparency. Be comfortable addressing deal weaknesses directly with clients early in the process.

Proactive Reporting
Keep senior leadership consistently informed regarding pipeline activity and transaction status.

Timeline Accountability
Set realistic deadlines. When unavoidable delays occur, communicate them immediately so internal and external stakeholders can adjust accordingly.

High Level of Integrity and Self-Motivation
Demonstrate exceptional autonomy, personal integrity, and self-discipline. This role requires a professional who consistently maintains a high level of business development activity, responsiveness, productivity, and accountability without direct supervision. Take full ownership of prospecting efforts, pipeline management, client communication, and transaction execution.

Industry Awareness
Seek continual training and remain current on the evolving healthcare landscape, including regulatory, reimbursement, and policy developments affecting healthcare providers.

Position Requirements:

Senior BDO
Proven, verifiable track record of sourcing, structuring, and closing complex healthcare transactions. Possesses the technical credit skills and industry network necessary to operate autonomously following a brief acclimation period.

Junior BDO
Possesses at least 3 years of commercial credit, underwriting, or sales experience and demonstrates strong organizational skills, initiative, and a desire to build a long-term career in healthcare banking.

  • The location of this position is not limited to any specific geographical area however, an initial focus will be upon major markets in Oklahoma, Texas, Phoenix, and Denver.
