What You'll Do:
A qualified Facilities/Maintenance Intern must be a student who is currently enrolled full-time in an accredited degree program. The individual must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Assist with the delegation of maintenance tasks to team member trades personnel.
  • Monitor/Assist with the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, factory areas including production machine areas, storage warehouses and outside storage spaces, shipping & receiving areas, parking lots and outdoor facility grounds.
  • Oversee/ Participate in routine maintenance on Facilities, Production Equipment/Lines, Process Support Infrastructure Equipment and making repairs as needed.
  • Oversee/Participate in routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors.
  • Participate in overseeing security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors and/or a team of security professionals.
  • Creating reports on Maintenance Repairs, Equipment PMs, Safety Work Orders.
  • Assist with the management of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Preventative Machine Maintenance Program, keeping appropriate records/documentation as required. Look for ways to work with the CMMS Program Provider to upgrade/improve current systems on an ongoing basis to streamline administrative tasks in the maintenance department.
  • Assist with using the CMMS for preventative, predictive maintenance and root cause analysis determinations on all equipment and building structures at the Company and for precise inventory control of maintenance department supplies and repair parts to support and ensure company daily manufacturing operations effectively.
  • With technical input from Facility Maintenance Manager and key facility engineering staff, help with recommending and writing purchase requisitions for expensed items (repair parts, materials, and support services) to ensure continuous day to day operations of the facility's infrastructure and production equipment.
  • Monitor/Assist with the efficient utilization of utilities in the facility (electricity, water, natural gas, and requirement treatment chemicals). Assist with researching, suggesting, justifying, and performing Facility Energy Savings Projects.
  • Work w/Facility Maintenance Manager & Technical Manager on Researching, justifying, recommending, and writing Authorization For Expenditures (AFEs) for major Company Capital Building and Support Equipment Acquisitions on an annual basis. Required to verify that all AFE Project Expenditures completed meet our business ROI and pay back goals.
  • Oversee the upkeep and housekeeping of the equipment and working areas of the Maintenance shop, supply/tooling cribs, fabrication/welding, and boiler rooms in the facility.
  • Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of all outside facility grounds areas including landscaping, snow removal, security alarm and camera systems, lighting and fencing and all external building structures components repairs and upgrades. Perform site security evaluations and recommend and assist with perform upgrades on an on-going basis.
  • Acquire an understanding and working knowledge (by participating in the Intern Program) of OSHA and DEP regulations/procedures that may impact the facility or its personnel. Help with perform route inspections and preventive measures in an audit fashion to address and correct potential safety violations. Work with and support activities of the EH&S Department at the Company.
  • Oversee/Assist that all necessary production/process support infrastructure equipment and building facilities records are obtained and maintained. This includes mechanical and electrical prints, operating and troubleshooting manuals, material handling equipment, software programs, computer hardware, replacement parts lists, etc.

New duties and responsibilities may be added and required to meet the changing demands of the business and/or work schedules, and will be reviewed with the intern, as required
What You'll Need:
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Working in a manufacturing facility with potential high and low temperature environments.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Follow safety and PPE guidelines.

Compensation:
  • $22.00-$27.00 (commensurate with relevant experience and educational background)

Work Hours/Length of Program:
  • The internship will run for 12 weeks from May to August
  • Temporary Part/Full Time, targeting 20-40 hours per week.
  • Exact start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules and the needs of the business.
  • This is a paid internship.
