Key responsibilities

  • Build and lead the BDR team by hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing BDRs across outbound and inbound motions

  • Design and own the outbound prospecting playbook, including targeting strategy, messaging, sequencing, and channel mix

  • Define and own BDR KPIs, report performance metrics to GTM leadership, and optimize the BDR tech stack

Job description

We're building the go-to-market team for Base44, an AI-powered software development platform recently acquired by Wix. As our first Director of Sales Development, you'll build and lead the SDR function from the ground up — hiring the team, designing the playbook, and owning the top‑of‑funnel pipeline engine that drives Base44's revenue growth. This role is for a builder. You've led BDR teams, implemented processes and systems, you’re a master of outbound, you have strong opinions on tool stack, are on the leading edge of operationalized AI within BDR motions, and you’re excited by the challenge of defining what it looks like at a category‑defining AI company. You'll work closely with our sales, marketing, and Wix leadership to create the foundation for how Base44 generates and qualifies pipeline at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a high‑performing BDR team — hire, onboard, coach, and develop BDRs across outbound and inbound motions
  • Design and own the outbound prospecting playbook: targeting strategy, ICP, messaging, sequencing, and channel mix
  • Run a coaching‑first operating cadence: daily standups, weekly 1:1s, call coaching, and performance reviews
  • Define and own BDR KPIs—meeting volume, pipeline contribution, conversion rates, and activity metrics—and report them clearly to GTM leadership
  • Partner closely with Sales and Marketing to align on ICP, campaign execution, and handoff quality between BDR and AE
  • Build a feedback loop between the market and the product team, surfacing what’s resonating and what’s not
  • Implement and optimize the BDR tech stack (sequencing tools, CRM hygiene, intent data, AI‑powered outreach)
  • Drive a culture of experimentation—test messaging, personas, and channels to continuously improve pipeline quality and velocity
  • Build repeatable systems and playbooks for generating predictable pipeline
Requirements
  • 6+ years of B2B SaaS sales or sales development experience, with at least 2+ years directly managing SDR or BDR teams
  • Proven track record of building or scaling an outbound BDR function, not just running an established one
  • Experience selling or supporting sales of AI, ML, developer platforms, or product‑led SaaS is a strong plus
  • Strong understanding of outbound methodologies, sequencing tools, and CRM architecture (HubSpot or Salesforce)
  • Data‑driven mindset—use metrics to coach, forecast, and make decisions
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills, comfortable presenting to sales and GTM leadership
  • Self‑motivated, entrepreneurial, and energized by ambiguity in a high‑growth startup environment
  • At this time we are seeking NY‑based candidates who can commute to our NYC office 3 times per week
About the Team

We're Base44, a newly acquired part of Wix, on a mission to change how software gets built. Our AI‑powered platform allows anyone to create custom software applications using natural language — no traditional coding required. We operate like a startup within Wix: fast‑moving, collaborative, and focused on solving complex problems with simple, elegant solutions. As our first BDR leader, you'll play a key role in shaping our go‑to‑market approach, working closely with our founders and Wix leadership to bring this transformative technology to market.

Compensation

Approximate base compensation is $100,000 - 130,000/yr. In addition to base pay, this role includes variable compensation earned and company RSUs as part of the compensation package. Final offer may vary and will be determined by various factors including location, role, candidate profile, and ideal qualifications.
