About Expansion Capital Group (ECG)

ECG provides financing solutions that help small businesses access the capital they need to grow. Our team specializes in efficient, non-traditional lending, balancing speed with strong credit discipline and a commitment to doing things the right way.

We are looking for a Business Development Associate to support our Business Development team. This is an ideal entry point for someone who wants to build a long-term career in business development, relationship management, and commercial finance.

You'll play a key role behind the scenes by developing relationships with referral partners, learning ECG's products and underwriting process, and supporting portfolio growth while building the skills needed to independently manage a book of business.

If you're coachable, relationship-oriented, and motivated to grow into a Business Development Representative role, this is a strong launchpad. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced Business Development professionals, communicate with referral partners, support partner growth initiatives, and develop the knowledge and confidence needed to manage partner relationships independently.

What You'll Do:

• Learn ECG's products, underwriting guidelines, partner experience standards, and business development processes

• Build and maintain relationships with referral partners through outbound calls, emails, and consistent follow-up

• Support the growth of existing partner relationships while identifying opportunities to develop new ones

• Manage assigned referral partner relationships under the guidance of experienced Business Development team members

• Maintain accurate CRM records, activity tracking, and partner documentation

• Coordinate with Underwriting, Processing, Compliance, Operations, and other internal teams to support an exceptional partner experience

• Resolve routine partner questions and utilize established internal resources when additional support is needed

• Meet activity, responsiveness, and portfolio management expectations

• Contribute to team initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

What You’ll Learn:

• How business development professionals build and manage long-term referral partner relationships

• ECG's products, underwriting process, and commercial financing solutions

• Partner portfolio management and relationship development strategies

• CRM best practices, pipeline management, and business development fundamentals

• Cross-functional collaboration with underwriting, processing, compliance, and operations teams

• The skills and experience needed to advance into a Business Development Representative role

Why Join Us:

• Career Launchpad: Designed to prepare you for advancement into a Business Development Representative role

• Mentorship: Learn alongside experienced business development professionals who are invested in your success

• Relationship-Focused: Build long-term partnerships instead of one-time transactions

• Growth Potential: Develop valuable business development, communication, and relationship management skills

• Team Environment: Collaborative, fast-paced, and execution-focused

• Earning Opportunity: Competitive salary plus incentive opportunity with significant career advancement potential

Work Environment:

• In-office role based in either Sioux Falls, SD or Sandy, UT

• Professional office environment with a collaborative team atmosphere

• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs

What We're Looking For:

Strong candidates typically have experience in:

• Business development, customer service, account support, or relationship management

• Banking, financial services, insurance, or other professional services environments

• Building professional relationships through proactive communication

• Managing follow-up activities and maintaining accurate documentation

• Working toward goals in a fast-paced environment

• Using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications

You'll Thrive in This Role If You Are:

• Coachable and eager to learn

• A natural relationship builder who enjoys connecting with people

• Curious, self-motivated, and goal-oriented

• Organized with excellent follow-through

• Comfortable making outbound calls and developing new relationships

• Resilient, positive, and adaptable

• Interested in building a long-term career in business development
