Job description

What you’ll Do

The Manager, Business Continuity, is responsible for supporting Americold’s enterprise-wide business continuity. Operational resilience, crisis management, and IT disaster recovery programs. This role develops and executes strategies that enable the organization to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from business disruptions across a global network of temperature-controlled facilities, transportation operations, and corporate functions. The position partners closely with executive leadership, technology, operations, safety, security, and risk management teams to strengthen organizational resilience, protect critical business processes, and ensure continuity of service for customers.

Essential Functions:
  • Support the enterprise Business Continuity Management (BCM)/Business Resiliency program, including governance, policies, standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience building or maturing a BC/DR program in a complex, multi-site, or global operations environment (e.g., supply chain, logistics) preferred
  • Facilitate Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and enterprise risk assessments.
  • Develop,maintain, and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Establish andmonitorRecovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
  • Lead crisis response efforts and coordinate recovery activities.
  • Develop executive reporting and program metrics.
  • Partner across Operations, IT, Cybersecurity, Safety, and Corporate Functions.
  • Drive corrective actions and program enhancements.
  • Manage resilience-related technology platforms and third-party service providers.
  • Support regulatory, customer, and internal audit reviews.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills
Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Responsibilities:
  • Design andmaintainenterprise business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Coordinate disaster recovery testing andvalidationexercises.
  • Conduct third-party resilience andvendorcontinuity assessments.
  • Identifygaps and implement mitigation strategies.
Program Governance & Leadership:
  • Coordinate enterprise continuity governance processes.
  • Establish program standards aligned to ISO 22301 and NIST.
  • Present testing results and risk assessments to senior leadership.
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Compliance, Security, and Risk Management teams.
Crisis Management Duties:
  • Assist enterprise crisis management and emergency response coordination.
  • Manage crisis management teams duringsignificant events.
  • Develop crisis communications plans.
  • Conduct tabletop exercises and after-action reviews.
What Experience and Education You Need
  • Bachelor’sdegree in a related fieldrequired.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Risk Management, or Operational Resilience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience leading enterprise crisis response during an actual disruption, not just tabletop exercises
What Could Set You Apart
  • Knowledge of ISO 22301, NIST, FFIEC, FEMA, and related frameworks.(preferred)
  • CBCP, MBCI, or related certifications preferred.
  • A demonstrated record of owning a BC/DR program end to end in a complex, multi-site, or global operations environment (e.g., supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, or cold storage).
  • Hands-on expertise with BC/DR or GRC platforms (e.g., Fusion Risk Management, Archer, ServiceNow BCM) to manage plans, RETOs/RPOs, and testing cadence.
  • A track record of building resilience culture through training programs that drive measurable engagement, not just compliance checkboxes.
  • Comfort presenting program maturity, risk posture, and audit remediation status directly to senior leadership or the board.
  • Familiarity with cold chain, warehousing, or transportation operations and the unique continuity risks they present.
  • Active CBCP, MBCI, or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions

  • Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, or bending

  • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work

  • Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks

  • May require travel by automobile and airplane for business

  • May require visits to warehouse operations in temperatures at or below freezing

  • May require carrying loads related to travel and the occasional lifting, carrying, positioning, and/or moving of objects weighing up to 20 pounds

  • Requires the use of various electronic tools
