Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience to support a federal client in gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements for data dashboards, visualizations, and reporting solutions. The Business Analyst will work closely with client stakeholders, public safety leaders, internal data analysts, and technical teams to ensure dashboard solutions effectively support leadership decision-making.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, highly organized, and comfortable working with federal clients in a collaborative environment. Experience supporting federal public safety customers is a plus.

Business Analyst

The Business Analyst will work directly with federal client stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and translate those needs into clear, actionable documentation for data analytics and dashboard development teams.

The ideal candidate will reside in or within commutable distance to Washington DC.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support federal client stakeholders in gathering and documenting business, functional, and reporting requirements for data dashboards, visualizations, and decision-support tools.
  • Develop user story intake process and tracking methodology while working closely with cross-functional teams to refine user story language and needs through an iterative process.
  • Develop process flows user personas, user stories, and related artifacts to support user-centered dashboard design and development.
  • Collaborate with internal data analysts, dashboard developers, and technical teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and accurately implemented.
  • Support user acceptance testing, including test planning, test case development, test execution, defect tracking, and validation of dashboard functionality.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, interviews, and requirements-gathering sessions with federal client stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and requirements updates to client and internal team members.
  • Help ensure dashboard and visualization products are aligned with client priorities, leadership reporting needs, and decision-making objectives.
  • Build strong working relationships with public safety stakeholders, federal clients, and internal delivery teams.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance reporting processes, data usability, and stakeholder engagement.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Requirements Analyst, Functional Analyst, or similar role.
  • Bachelor of Science in Business or Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or an equivalent field.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
  • Financial or accounting background - Preferred
  • Experience supporting Power BI dashboard, reporting, data visualization, analytics, or business intelligence projects.
  • Experience developing user stories, acceptance criteria, journey maps, user personas, and process documentation.
  • Experience supporting user acceptance testing and working with stakeholders to validate solution functionality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work directly with federal clients, public sector stakeholders, and internal technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a client-facing environment.
  • Experience in Agile, hybrid, or iterative project delivery environments.
  • Must be in-person in Washington, D.C. 5 days a week.
  • Must have or be able to obtain full scope background investigation and clearance.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting federal public safety customers.
  • Advanced excel and experience with Power BI
  • Experience working with federal agencies or government consulting environments.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools, dashboards, and data visualization concepts.
  • Experience working with data analysts, dashboard developers, or reporting teams.
