Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

About the Opportunity
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an IS Business Analyst I for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a well-established organization in the San Diego area. This role is ideal for a technically strong business analyst who enjoys working at the intersection of data, reporting, automation, and business process improvement.
The selected candidate will partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to develop reporting solutions, build and maintain data pipelines, automate data processes, and support enterprise reporting environments. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern Microsoft technologies while contributing to critical business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Analytics
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize reports and dashboards using business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • Translate business requirements into meaningful reporting solutions and actionable insights.
  • Write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SQL queries to support reporting and analytical needs.
  • Analyze data trends and provide recommendations to improve business decision-making.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and performance.
Data Pipeline Development
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, and flat files.
  • Cleanse, transform, validate, and prepare data for downstream consumption.
  • Monitor data integrity and troubleshoot pipeline issues to ensure reliable data delivery.
  • Implement best practices for data quality and governance.
Programming & Automation
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python or similar high-level programming languages.
  • Automate recurring data management and reporting processes.
  • Create efficient and maintainable code to support data transformation and ingestion activities.
  • Participate in collaborative development efforts utilizing version control systems.
Systems Administration & Support
  • Support and maintain reporting environments, data scheduling tools, and related systems.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement solutions.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and system configurations.
  • Assist with deployment processes and environment maintenance.
  • Ensure operational stability of reporting and analytics platforms.
Business Analysis
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, document, and validate requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and development tasks.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and solution design discussions.
  • Support Agile project delivery through effective communication and documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Python or another high-level programming language.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and automating data integration and transformation processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies including:
    • SQL Server
    • Power BI
    • SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Azure
  • Familiarity with data integration techniques involving databases, APIs, and flat files.
  • Experience supporting enterprise reporting or analytics environments.
  • Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
