BTTC Assistant Behavior Analyst Intern


Role Responsibilities


  • The Assistant Behavior Analyst (ABA) Intern for the Behavior Treatment and Training Center (BTTC) provides behavior analysis services for children and adolescents ages 8-17 with a diagnosis of an intellectual and developmental disability or a related condition that exhibit serious challenging behaviors under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The ABA Intern works directly for the BTTC Senior Manager.
  • Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, the ABA Intern provides hands-on behavior intervention directly with the child/adolescent and provides training to the parents/staff/significant others; performs functional behavioral assessments; develops, implements, and evaluates behavior analysis treatment programs; trains/monitors staff; participates as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and analyzes data. Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, the ABA Intern completes preference assessments, functional analyses, and skill assessments.
  • Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, the ABA Intern conducts direct observations, collects data, summarizes data, and documents training progress. Work is conducted at the center, in the client’s home, and other community settings.
  • Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, the ABA Intern works with a caseload of 2-4 children/adolescents and assists other Board-Certified Behavior Analysts.
  • The program is short-term intensive residential treatment with an estimated length of stay of 3-6 months (and up to 1 year).
  • The ABA Intern complies with the BACB's Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts as well as the Texana Business Code of Conduct. The ABA Intern is responsible for complying with all requirements outlined in the BACB BCaBA Handbook and keeps up with all updates from the BACB.

Salary

  • $18.00 per hour

Required Experience
  • At least one year experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
  • At least one year of experience providing direct ABA services (i.e., BT, RBT, or other staff implementing behavior analysis programs per protocol).
  • Experience with data collection, behavior reduction programs, and/or skill acquisition programming.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
Skills, Education and/or Certifications Required
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED (for applicants pursuing their BCaBA certification).
  • Documented completion of at least two undergraduate college courses in applied behavior analysis that meet the BACB BCaBA requirements.
  • Proof of current enrollment in qualifying BACB behavior-analytic coursework toward a degree that meets the BACB requirements for a BCaBA.
  • Ability to enter and maintain a BACB-compliant supervision contract.
  • Commitment to completing and documenting required supervised fieldwork hours under a qualified BCBA supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Must be flexible and demonstrate an ability to problem solve
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to receive feedback, participate in supervision meetings, and implement behavior-analytic procedures.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and meet organizational employment requirements.



Preferred Skills, Education and/or Certifications Required


  • Current RBT credential.


Job Related Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR. Training is provided to employees once hired.
  • Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting (15 pounds- 45 pounds), pushing, stooping, light carrying (15 pounds), repeated bending, kneeling, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, running, sitting and twisting.
  • Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception. Qualified individuals must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
