Job description


Job Title:           After School Bus Driver

Department:     Operations

Reports To:      Club Director

Status:              Part Time, Hourly - Contract

Schedule:         Monday - Friday 1:00 to 6:00pm 

                         Summer Hours Vary

Job Summary:

MUST HAVE CDL WITH PASSENGER ENDORSEMENT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR POSITION.

Energetic and responsible driver who has a passion for working with children. Under the supervision and guidance of the Club Director, a CDL Bus Driver is responsible for transporting members to and from various locations.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
  • Transport members, following a pre-planned route per a definite time schedule
  • Inspects vehicle to ensure it is unoccupied by children each time before exiting the vehicle
  • Regulate heating equipment and ventilation of bus for the comfort of passengers
  • Drives bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety of children in loading, unloading and transporting them
  • Instructs members in safety precautions and practices
  • Signals members when to cross street or highway and assures that children are safely across upon departure form bus
  • Maintains discipline, reports any unruly behavior to a supervisor
  • Inspects and sweeps bus
  • Checks water, gas, oil, and mechanical condition before leaving
  • Reports delays and accidents
  • Keeps operational records and makes simple reports
  • Reports defects or problems with the vehicle to a supervisor
  • Performs related work as required
  • Attend ALL staff meetings and special training for employees
Education:
  • High School Diploma
Experience:
  • Experience working with children
  • Driving/Transporting youth in groups utilizing oversized vehicles
Skills:
  • State issued Commercial Driver’s License with P Endorsement
  • Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions—hot, cold, rainy, etc.
  • Ability to meet physical demands
  • Ability to move equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
  • Ability to deal with the general public
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications (Will Train)
 ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical requirements include regularly standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 25 pounds).
